The options provided when you have mediaportal Tv Server are different.
I have just finished the mediaportal TV Server tutorial.

Hi Mentalinc,

Just back from a trip and tried to set this up for MP tv server (the old one, I haven't loaded RC1 yet).

When I run the force import it loads 0 channels and reports no xmltv file found. If I look in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server  ther is no xmltv.xml file.

I note that the instructions call the program to run "freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -mediaportalTVServer" but the file in the directory is called "freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR".

More good news
Version 1.5 is out http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/epg

Version 1.5.0.0

  • Added the abilty to schedule tasks via the command line e.g: freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -task 09:00:00 mediaportalTvServer.bat. Read more here
  • Improved handing when exceeding the allowable limit of EPG downloads - No longer overwrite the current xml file.
  • Updated the .bat files in the download to work with the schedule task function (must have the full path to freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe
I have now included all the functions I think are needed except one.
The abilty to have it download the EPG for use in all 4 programs - as such that is what I am going to work on next!

aether22: have you had any luck in finding the image source for the tv stations.
This will be very easy to implement if you have the images (a local file should be fine also)

Hi, thanks for such a useful app, it has helped me out immeasurably. Just one little problem: when I extract the zippped files to DVBViewer, it doesn't create the folder "EPG". This gave me errors for a long time until I figured out what it was. I am running Vista 32 bit with DVBViewer.

Hope there is something you can do to fix it.

Thanks again for the great program,

Tommy.

Oh, and one more problem. Even after extracting the logos, I still get the error message when starting up DVBViewer:

15:49:11: Can not enumerate files in directory 'C:\Program Files\DVBViewer\Images\Logos\' (error 123: the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.)

15:49:11: Can not enumerate files in directory 'C:\Program Files\DVBViewer\Images\Logos\' (error 123: the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

Any ideas?

Yes YOU need to choose where to put the EPG files the EPG folder is merely my suggestion.

You may need to rename the Freeview | HD channel in the channel editor to Freeview HD - have noted this in the tutorial.

The problem is you dont have an image for the stations in epgplus.
When epgplus opens go to the guide then look at which station doesn't have the icon and let me know.

Ok, I'll admit it, I am utterly confused when it comes to the automate step in DVBviewer.

This page: http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/epgFiles/dvbviewer.html
Seems to show that you use the 'Automate' button in ImportXMLTV but is also points to this page: http://mentalindustries.orconhosting.net.nz/epgFiles/schtasks.html
Which gives a different commandline to the one pictured on the previous page, that's ok I'll create one, not sure if I should use  dvbviewer.bat or
dvbviewerXMLTV.bat but I'll pick one and try it out, wait, can't paste anything into the commandline field.

So wait, maybe I am meant to put freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -task 09:00:00 dvbviewerXMLTV.bat (or freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -task 09:00:00 dvbviewer.bat) in task schedueler, the one included in windows? (if so it wasn't stated anywhere, and the one pictured is clearly the importXMLTV one)

Or maybe I should go into C:\Program Files\DVBViewer in command prompt and hand it freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -task 09:00:00 dvbviewerXMLTV.bat (or the other line) but I have my doubts that could work since it doesn't seem to leave anything running? (It also give an error about 1% and something about 32 or 64 bit, which is odd since I have spent the last few days making a 32bit Vista installation)

Of course if I try out all these options I'll be banned from the server again.

Isn't it funny how asking for help (or giving up) can make you 'get it' all of a sudden.
I had not noticed the new scheduletask.bat file in the archive before, so i take it i should use that.

Still I'd ask for clarification so I don't have any wasted attempts, but one other thing.
When I ran it, it said that C drive was locked which is correct, I have this OS rather impractically on G not C.
So if I give it all the right parameters will it still try to access C?

Glad you got it all sorted.

I will double check the instructions tomororw to make sure they make sense now that I have added support for creating a scheduled task in version 1.5

For DvbViewer it should work fine if you have it installed on G drive (mediaportal and GB-PVR must be installed on C: at this time), there will however be an issue when you try and schedule a task as it looks for the program "C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe"
which I guess is casuing you the issues.

I might add a loop here to hunt for that file in all drive letters in a later version.

Yay, I got it working, turns out every time I renamed Freeview | HD to Freeview HD and restarted dvbviewer, it went back to freeview | HD. But I've fixed it all now, all is working, so thanks for such a great program!

Yes, but which do i use?

freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -task 09:00:00 dvbviewerXMLTV.bat  or
freeviewNZ-EPG-GBPVR.exe -task 09:00:00 dvbviewer.bat ???

What are the differences?
