Streamz: any know when we will get House in HD?

I think the current House series finishes in a week or two.. (Writers strike in US) We lag by a couple of months.

Did anyone record this? it would make the perfect DTT sample, its actually HD.

Would uploading 2min of it be okay? Once again, i'm willing to host if necessary.

walt12: No crashes here, reception was 100%, one or two times the audio sync got a bit out but I just flipped channels during the ads and it resolved itself. PQ was stunning, you can notice the difference between upscaled SD and HD, Denny Crane's wrinkles, oh my!

Slighty OT but I had a similar experience with friends in the US. They have basic cable and a HD capable TV set (Panasonic 50" with native 1366x768 resolution) and cable looked terrible on it. But since the FCC mandates that cable companies must provide the HD channel down the cable unencrypted for FTA local channels (now I am not entirely sure of the terminology but it's QAM I guess with MPEG2) they had the potential to get at least 7 channels in HD (Fox, Local 4, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, WB and another).

So as a really generous gesture I purchased a HD tuner box for them for Xmas (Cost me US$180!). Plug in the cable from the wall and it has component and DVI output as well as Toslink - we used component The box found all the analogue channels (about 90), about 200 digital (most encrypted and many radio) and the 7 HD free channels.

Comparing the signal between the SD analogue and the HD digital was as you say - night and day. It was a revelation for them.

My reference for HD is HD-DVD and BluRay so I won't be impressed so much but happy to receive OTA broadcasts in HD

Im pretty sure you wont notice any difference between the proper HD shows ie Boston, house et al and what the bluray and HD-DVD provide

Probably not on my TV which is only 1366x768 and therefor maxes out at 720p though it handles 1080i okay (preferred resolution).

However with a 50" or larger TV capable of 1080p I would think you would see a difference between the HD broadcasts (which are necessarily compressed) and a full 1080p video from HD-DVD or BluRay running at 25Mbs+
