I am thinking about getting a Mac Mini Core2 2.0ghz for Freeview HD and PVR functions with EyeTV. Should I rethink this? As looking at some replies at Geekzone the Mac mini struggles with the TV3 1080i feed?

I have a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 2ghz and an EyeTV 250 Plus, both of which I bought a few weeks ago, and it works pretty well. TV 3 can be a bit juddery now and then but I this was improved with the latest release of EyeTV software to the point that it's almost unnoticeable. I understand this is just going to keep improving with new releases. The reason I went for the 250 plus is because it has hardware decoding instead of relying on the CPU. I'm also using the Elgato Turbo.264 to take the strain off the CPU when exporting to iTunes.
Actually, I've been made redundant since buying this gear and am in need of cash. So if anyone is interested in buying it let me know.

Are you selling Eyetv250 plus? I am interested in please email me :) Anyway where do you get all the Eyetv products ? and which one should I get the Hybrid or 250+?
I got mine from Magnummac in Wellington. I'm no expert but my inderstanding is that the 250+ has a hardware decoder while the Hybrid uses your CPU to do all the hard work. My reasoning was that the 250+ would release the CPU to do other work.
Stunning!! wow, an actual plug and play experience with a computer! well it is a Mac I guess. all good, no artifacts or stop motion, HD looks great on the demo channel at least.. now just to sort out the EPG.. Go the Mac Mini.
Has anyone thought (or able) to include Prime TV listings in the eyetv xml file download?
I read a post on the elgato forum today that said creating a favourite list of channels can include both DVB-T and analogue. This works. That would mean all available free to air channels would be avaliable for viewing/recording. No more missing Top Gear.
I ran that script and it worked fine first time. THanks to whoever made it. However, it's not working now. I'm by no means a Mac expert and that was the first ever script I've run. I've read about doing it manually but where can I find the file that the script is supposed to download?
I think the file you download gets saved in the same directory as the script.
I resolved the issue of no Prime in the listings-freeview.xml.gz file by using listings-all.xml.gz instead.
I've made a favourite channels list with Prime and Freeview channels and when you select the Favourites all the listings show. That makes it easy to schedule anyting from either analogue and ditigal sources.
grant214: When you say there's nothing to see in the Program Guide, do you see the xml file saved in the same location you ran the script ran from?
And you've changed the Guide service to none?

yes the xml file is showing in the location, (I'm using the downloads folder for now)

So, I tried running the script again tonight and the file came in, this time compressed as a .gz and again not in the guide page on EyeTV, probably not surprisingly.
Manually uncompressed it and dropped it onto the the dock and it pops up in the Guide.. great!
So, now to automate the whole thing.. I have it set to run weekly in ICAL, but need to sort the .gz thing.
I did edit the script to get all lsitings so as to see the Prime info too.
I've got the script working almost flawlessly - the first time I run it, it creates the listings-freeview.xml file and EyeTV reads that and everything's sweet. However the next time I run the script, it creates just the compressed listings-freeview.xml.gz file, and doesn't auto-decompress it and overwrite the old xml file. Does anyone have any suggestions?
You could try trashing the first file before downloading a new version. i.e. taking the older xml file(s) out of the downloads folder before adding the new one.
