lyonrouge: turn on the in-built DLNA server, that's the easiest way to get content from the HDD
lyonrouge: maybe why it doesn't have the FreeView sticker, I can confirm from mine that DLNA server works (note: no transcoding so HE-AAC can be challenging) and the EPG works for the full week (earlier models had a 3 day limit I believe)
