mattwnz: Thanks for that. That then shows that they were aware of this problem last month. That is certainly not good that they haven't fixed their systems.

I def. got the impression that the system "ban" on over-riding the price was purposeful and aimed at this one product; they clearly indicated that it wasn't something they'd faced before, so it must be that head office has decided to stop it being sold below $299 outside of specific sale times (which of course doesn't help when they're obliged to match their sister store's lower price!).

I'm guessing it's just head office holding the price in order to do a 30% off sale, or similar...
Of course they can drop the price, the manager can do whatever he/she needs to, they just don't want to. Which, is their decision EXCEPT when you consider the price promise they offer (they'll match any price + give you FlyBuys)...

Probably quicker to buy it online from the Bond & Bond site, I see it has $6 shipping...

Would have been, if I knew they weren't going to honour their own advertising promises. Anyway the complaint is now in their system, so will probably complete the order once they have sorted themselves out, and their manager has got back to me.

Would be interested to know if anyone else had this problem trying to buy it from noel leemings

Walked into NL (Tory St) yesterday, asked about the box and told the guy that B&B had it for $199.

He called them, and then moaned at the guy on the phone that they would have to sell at a loss (while smiling the whole time) and rung it up on the till for 199.

Too easy.

They are the same company though, just different 'faces'. Hope you got your flybuys. Still waiting for NL management to contact me, as it should have gone through too.

They contacted me and will honour the price. Apparently it had been locked down from being changed. However their compaints dept said it was a problem with that particular stores computer system, and could have been changed instore, but the person I dealt with may have been a 'bit special' to be able to do it. There words.Alls well that ends well.

nickd: is there something I need to know?

Not necessarily a negative, but you should be aware that a TiVo gets its EPG from the internet rather than from the broadcast program guide as most Freeview do. That means you have to provide the TiVo with a network connection.

Yeah, it's good that they give you the wifi adapter with it so you don't have to run any more cables. I just need to train it up a bit. It seems to think I like the Chinese channels that I can't understand.

As an aside, it's silly that the manual doesn't tell you that the remote can be trained to turn on/off your amp as well as your TV. It just makes it seem like it's a TV only thing. Just as well I had a snoop around the web.

Has anyone else got any tips or tricks to do with TiVo? I tried to get the 30second skip function working but it seems to be a US only thing *sigh*.

Wifi is good, but I think it is only G, so is probably slower than if you wire it up.

With the 30 second skip, can you get that functionally if you use a harmony remote, and download the tivo remote for it, so it gives it that button? Or is it software locked? I haven't tried it myself.
