richms: Got a 2100 at harveys for $128 for the garage since when I use the inbuilt TV tuners there is usually a bit of lag between them which is SO ANNOYING.

UI is pretty average, and I have it doesnt seem to work with HDMI resolution changing depending on what the channel is, so I have to have its sub-par deinterlacing and then reinterlacing it to 1080i50 on the SD channels which is really bad looking with massive combing sometimes.

Setting it myself makes it do SD to the TV which does a much better job, but then the HD channels are all downscaled - again with many combing artifacts. Mind you the SD on freeview is so bad that some combing is the least of the worries.

Also, no dual band wifi. :( tried watching the block on it over wifi and it was a bit stuttery and really bad looking. Going to a cat5 and it was less bad looking.

So no auto mode to pass thru Native resolution?

No dual band wifi is a let down for a new release product (despite it being a low-end product) perhaps a newer hardware revision will add it.

It has the menu option for it but it doesn't appear to work properly and it's "upscaling" is right down there with a $30 dvd player.

Will have more of a play later. Dual band wifi is really inexcusable with what the chip sets cost now. I think the 2100 is just a single stream as well so it's a good thing that tvnz and tv3 don't exactly have even medium bit rate content.

Hi, No this cannot be used as a media player from any general USB device, unless the drive is formatted then you can play, record files from it. No DLNA, this feature is on the satBox S8200 and aerialBox T2200

I would like to be able to control my T2100 using roomie remote to save have multiple remotes lying around. Roomie supports both control over IP but I gather this unit doesn't support this. I also can't see It listed on the predefined list of set top boxes. Anyone know if this device is available overseas under a different brand name?

The Hard Drive needs to be formatted to EXT4 so if you can get content onto the drive, you should be able to playback files however this is ideally set up to record and playback from the device itself from the broadcast channels.

Even better is it visible on the network so we can push things to the drive?

Not this particular unit, the S8200 and T2200 do this job

FREEVIEWPLUS UPGRADES THIS WEEK

Based on user feedback, we're rolling out some small changes to FreeviewPlus this week to make it even easier to use.

This week, Freeview New Zealand will release some small changes to FreeviewPlus to make it even easier for users to access FreeviewPlus and On Demand content.
Please see this FreeviewPlus Update page for a complete list of changes. They'll be rolled out to the T2100 automatically.

An update screen informing NZ FreeviewPlus users of this update will appear on TV when this change is rolled out. Users will be directed online to the FreeviewPlus Update page for more info.

I have set up a private forum to get feedback on a few content I work at Dish TV like PDF Manuals, iManual Devalopment, Videos and other end user items.
This forum is only for feedback on these few items, nothing will change on the current public threads here, topics will be very different and only specific to certain things.
It saves on cluttering the public Freeview DVBT/S thread.

The brand new FreeviewPlus rollout has begun and you would have been prompted by a FreeviewPlus Screen telling you about the new update, The default INFO banner will no longer be on display when you change the channel, instead the FreeviewPlus mini guide will appear, the UI is much faster. The timeout should remain the same to the default however you can change this in the FreeviewPlus settings.

If you are having an overlay issue with the original banner and the FreeviewPlus banner [When the info banner appears first then disappears then the Freeview Mini Guide pops up) then a firmware download is available right here: (T2100) http://firmwaretest.dishtv.co.nz/DIS008_10_012F.usb The update will be on the OND server in the next few days if you would like the T2100 to update this for you automatically.

To access the mini guide at any time simply press the OK button on live TV, you can change the channel from within the mini guide as well as browse for channels. To access the Quick Selection Menu's and guides simply press INFO then OK, If you are not connected to the internet then there will be no change made.

Hello,
I'm interested to buy a T2100 (or even a T2200)
But, as a geek, and also as a computer ingeneer, I don't like to buy something without having some specs.
for example, no way to know the size of the RAM and flash of the T2100 (but I did find theses info for the T2200).
No way also to know how powerfull is the main cpu... I have had in the past some STB which were chip, but so slow that they were painful to use.. I'm scare that this will be the same. How much DMIPS does the cpu provide? is STB running Linux or not ? Android or not ? is the CPU Arm based or not ? is the CPU the same in the 2 models or not.
Josh, can you please provide some more technical specs... thanks in advance.

I have two major frustrations with my Dish TV aerialBox T2100:

1. Often when resuming shows it does not resume the show but starts at the beginning.

2. If I series record Shortland Street, it records it on both TV2 and TV2+1. Can a series not be locked to a channel? My magicbox did that. This means that if I record many series on TV1,2 or 3 my tuners are effectively locked for much longer than they should because these channel all a "+1" sister channel.

Thanks for noting this Paul, I'll get the software team to look into it.

This was found on our PVRs so I'll get the team to look into it for replication, I'll update you on how it goes.
