Yes that's what I do, but I'm wondering if everyone does this, of if there's a way to have the file decompress automatically (like it does the first time) then overwrite the existing file. Does everyone else have to delete the old listings file before they run the script to create the new file, or can you set this up to run completely automatically?
No, I don't have to delete the original compressed file, the script just downloads and decompresses the file.
My version of the script lives in the downloads folder and that's also where the xml file gets left. There is no .gz file left in that directory once the script is finished.
As the original XML hosting site has died I did some hunting around found the new NZ XML source. I've updated the script and included it and a compiled app in a zip here.
That is really handy, was thinking about rewriting the epg collector app (for os x) that the other guys use for the windoze media centre pcs, as the xml tv script I have was starting to miss label some tv shows (primetime tv2) as "Confidential"
How are you controlling the mini? Keyboard and touch pad/mouse or ios device?
Yeah and you can/should use iCal to automate running the script once a week. Control wise I'm using a Logitech Harmony via the Mac's IR port for 90% of control and then a Logitech diNovo Mini for the times I need a mouse and keyboard.
