Not too sure but their tech support told me that DLNA streaming is not currently supported but may be in a future firmware update.

On another note it plays dvd rips (.mpg s well actually just .vob files which i renamed .mpg) fine off the HDD, and they have told me .mkv files as well (up to level 4)

but i can't get .mp3s to work so unless somebody else is managing this it mustn't be supported either at this time.

giollarnat: yeah i've just noticed some changes on the dishtv website, they are just starting to trumpet the USB single tuner PVR functionality now (and put the price up, surprise surprise). Mine was bought last november and had FreeviewHD but not MyFreeviewHD approval.

Anyway, just got my IDE drive to work - after a quick Eureka moment of wondering why i couldn't get rid of this unallocated space before the one partition, i checked and it was a logical not primary partition - the default option on the Fat32formatter that i never paid attention to. Anyway, quick format to Primary partition and hey presto. Just in time to cancel my sata hdd box order. Oops.

So it does work with IDE after all - if their man hadn't said that that was the problem i probably would have checked earlier.

Speak to Craig at tech support not the other guy!!

Will test out this >4gb file playback thing.

Hi giollarnat,

How is your testing going?  Any luck?

Cheers!

well been using it over the weekend, no problems except when i recorded 2hr program on Prime, so not HD, every few minutes the playback would have a little stutter/pixel scramble. Not the end of the world but annoying nonetheless.

Much like reception disturbance with Freeview except that apparently when it was live there were no such disturbances. I've yet to play it back on PC to see if these go away...

Had an interesting response from Dish TV today -

"The software developers are currently working on an issue with glitching especially when recording HD channels. We will hopefully have an updated firmware released in the next week or two."

Good news - at least they are aware of the issue and working on a fix. Be interesting to see how well it works.

Further feedback from DishTV:

Hi,  Yes we are nearly there with a solution , . With the logs we have done the software engineers can see it is a time syncronization issue . They are doing a fix right now and we should have a test version tomorrow morning , If all is ok then we can release  a new firmware .

I spend a few days away and finally issues with the T1020 are being addressed. Good job on their part but it should have been done way sooner.

i'll be interested to see if this works ... basically playback of most if not all of my recordings has momentary glitches, whether long or short, on non-HD or HD channels, every few minutes for just a second.

2 types of glitches:
- very short screen and sound blackout - screen goes black (rare)
or "reception disturbance"-type pixellation and sound scramble for a second (more common).

It will be great if they can send you the firmware before or during the weekend so you can do that Monday One News and Shorty test again.

Cheers!

Hey I have noticed this too. Except I though it must have been something to do with my aerial installation. It even happens when the EPG is the only thing being displayed. Quick black screen, maybe just for a split second. Also happens during playback and watching live TV.

Think this is a separate issue and we need to take it up with them too. Lets see what the new firmware does. I have asked them to make it available before the weekend if possible. Will let u guys know if I receive it.

in my case i don't think the aerial is to blame, i have never noticed black screens when it's plugged directly into the TV...

Hey Guys
Got a firmware update from dishtv if anybody want to try it. I will try it tomorrow. File is over 10MB in size so will try uploading it to a free storage location.

Update from dishtv:

It looks good except for some pix at the 35 min time in a playback ,  We are resolving that now .In the meantime do you want to try this version .

Hi BraaiGuy,

Who's your testing going?  How bad is the "35 min pix" problem?

Cheers!
