Good value?
Really. And what exactly are the returns on all that money?
Klipspringer:NonprayingMantis:
presumably you somehow have intimate knowledge of the way the EPG works because, at face value, removing stuff from the EPG on a per customer basis (i.e. every customer has an individualised custom EPG showing only the specific a la carte channels they subscribe to) seems like something that would be bloody hard, if not impossible.
Pretty simple actually.
You dont have to remove anything on a "per customer" basis.
Send all EPG data to everyone, give the customer the option to select which channels they wish to see/hide.
Tivo, although its EPG is not OTA, already gives its customers this option

Cloudy: I find it interesting that those that are saying nz tv sucks are the ones that want just news, doco's current affairs etc type shows. I would have thought that this sort of programing is easily found online and in greater variety. The vast majority of NZ'ers seem to me to be pretty happy with the tv being broadcast. I know I am, mostly, can't please everyone all the time.

I said -seem to me- just my opinion, didn't state it as a verifiable fact

Agree with that.
It's also the reason why I should be allowed to buy what I want to watch, rather than a government taking my money off me via a "licence fee" or taxes, and buying what they think I ought to want to watch on my behalf.
