About 6pm Sunday 19 Jul - screen switched to "Updating by Air" message. Waited about 5 mins and 1% only showing.
It wouldn't allow anything else (or show if news recording) so eventually had to pull the plug.

What is the story with these ? Should they complete to 100% and what times do they happen?
Did I miss an upgrade ?

Booted mine up this morning, no updates available either through network or OTA.

We are in process of adding a Smartphone/Tablet App as a remote to use over the local network however you can grab a web remote by entering into your smartphone/PC/Tablet web browser " http://192.168.0.10/ "
You can press the button as you would on the physical remote, Please Note: Your S8200 unit will need to be connected to a local network the same as your phone/tablet/computer

The use of this feature are for those who have stacked their S8200 in another room which is fed through to a TV in another room, it is also useful if you cannot find / the remote is being replaced/fixed.

As far as I'm aware at the moment we still have no exact timeframe to release them, The Apps are actually ready and they have been tested for several months so the technicality of it is approved but we just need to seek approval from a few parties before we can change that Coming soon into a full multi media entertainment box. Will keep you in the loop!

Odd thing happened today. Didn't realise it's 'Manual Timer' from the scheduler to view stuff not set from the EPG.
So went to set TV3 news again and got into a screen about Alternate Timer. It wouldn't let us out. No OK, back or anything so had to pull the plug.

OK. By the way, after you turn LCN Off and setup your own numbering system, can the front panel show the actual channel number you're on? I suspect it's stayed tied to the Freeview default order.

I have tested this myself the numbering system from my test unit (latest firmware) will have different channel numbers than the actual on screen channel number in the list,

One of the other benefits of the S8200 is the Live Streaming Feature which allows you to stream the current channel on your S8200 to any HTML streaming player device such as VLC .
This could be handy for a 2nd room without the need of cables. All you need is to be connected to your local network and do the following

Ensure Live Streaming is enabled in the Application Settings in the Menu Menu > Settings > Applications
Using VLC or a similar network streaming site enter in the IP Address of the S8200 receiver and add :8080 at the end (To find out about the IP Address do this you can press the STATS button on the remote and you will find it right under Network Statistics) How to network stream in VLC or your specified software may be technically challenging for those who are not used to these programmes.

Example: http://192.XXX.X.X:8080 and then play.

You will then see your mirrored channel broadcasting on VLC, there might be a slight delay depending on your local network conditions/setup.

Sure, but a bit of help is always welcome :) The streaming concept sounds promising - live streaming is enabled but VLC here reports

Your input can't be opened:

VLC is unable to open the MRL '192.168.20.2:8080'. Check the log for details. Where the log is, is anyone's guess!

But VLC isn't quite the ultimate. Ideally we'd like to stream to another DLNA receiver. I have a Panasonic DVD player and a Panasonic DVD recorder connected to the LAN and the player can see/view files on the recorder. That's what we'd like to do with the S8200. The DVD player DLNA settings shows "Servers Found On the network" and the s8200 isn't one of them.

It does show up in a list of 'Media Receivers" in Twonky. But they may be a red herring, never figured it out properly. It does see files on the PC and play (most) on that same DVD player.

Is the kind of thing the s8200 can/will do ? Either whatever's currently viewing, on files saved to HDD would be much appreciated.

I have made a typo error in how the user should enter in the address into VLC, you should have http://192.168.20.2:8080
I have now corrected this on my original post. Sorry about that! I'll be adding videos and references online about these features so watch out for our YouTube Page

The DNLA features are currently being tested at the moment, we are having small issues with them however they are on track to be fully operational soon, the S8200 can do a range of features which we are testing but there is nothing new for now to be released, except that Smart Apps of on demand services and stabling DNLA service.

The address change certainly worked, although I'm getting no audio and picture is good for about 15 secs then falls apart for about 10 and so on.
No refection on the 8200, quite likely is my computer or network. And may be better on wired.

A wired connection is a lot better if you are streaming to a PC, currently at home I have the S8200 connected using Wi-Fi and the Streaming PC using Wired (With Powerline Adapters) and the quality has remained flawless including the audio (and the modem connection between the unit is "Fair" so in the middle of a signal strength) although I haven't tested this vise versa.

Yep we are working hard on these, getting bugs squashed and ironed out, thanks to your help and the many other customers who report issues, suggestions and feedback.

Goodoo Josh. I fixed the audio problem (that was my fault). Can you have both wired and wireless connections together? I could easily plug a LAN cable into it, although it's
already working in wireless mode. (Wireless works quite well here to a laptop streaming e.g. YouTube to the TV).

Good luck and looking forward to further development. From all the setup and menu options this unit seems to have lots of potential :)
Can any other users add their results/experiences ?
