It plays in MPlayer portable.

I want it to be able to play in Media Portal so I can try and sell my Dad on a setting up a HTPC when DVB-T does mainstream.

Can you point me in the direction of codec(s) or filter(s) I can download to get this going?

I played the 10sec CSI 720p loop on my Centrino 1.6Ghz laptop about 10 times and it played perfectly every time in MPlayer, and I was busily installing codecs and filters to try and get it to play in Media Player and Media Portal. Now it still wont play in Media Player and stutters very badly in MPlayer Portable.

Did you install ffdshow? If so, it is a very processor intensive codec.

Installed the K-Lite Codec Pack and we are all go and the media plays smooth through whatever (inc. Media Player 11 and Media Portal).

To be honest, the examples I downloaded (The 10sec CSI clip and the minute of so Batman) didn't seem all that great quality (Both on the laptop screen and on the 46" LCD at 1280x768)

We all sat around the LCD and agreed that it wasnt that great. Could it be something to do with the codec maybe? Does it scale back the picture somehow if the processor isnt up to the task?

The picture quality is stunning on my 50" Plasma, especially with the bitrates they are running at.

How do you have your PC hooked up to your TV?

Hey all, in regards to these transmissions and the ability to receive them, I just came across this box, it can do h.264 and has SCART pluS HDMI and even a built in HDD, any reasons it would not work in NZ?  As far as I know the test transmissions on London are the same as the transmissions we currently have in NZ (DTT).

The only reason I could see it not working would be if it was tied to the UK Freeview platform in some way. The Zinwell DVB-S STB's in NZ for example will only tune Freeview channels and nothing else.

Lots of tvs have pretty crap VGA inputs - my flatmates panasonic 32" makes everything look like 16 bit colour when it comes in thru the VGA, and it cant get a 1:1 mapping no matter what we try so it looks bad, an HDMI to DVI works a lot better

The quality looks the same on the laptop screen as the TV. The computer plugged into the TV looks amazing, really bright and clear, and 1:1 pixel mapping.

Having just re-watched them in WMP on the LCD rather than Media Portal they do look pretty good. I wonder what Media Portal is doing to them to make them look so much worse.

Greetings and Happy New Year & all that.
Just a question, I had been able to get the demo loops in Auck using GB-PVR after stumping up for Power DVD Ultra, HTPC is Shuttle SG33G5 running 8600GTS, Q6600, 2G Mem 19LCD, Hauppauge PVR1100, Vista latest updates.
Somewhere along the way, I lost ability to see TV3 & C4 loops now playing - 1st question is - are they still playing test loops, second question is, what should my GB-PVR settings be, have I stuffed them somehow.

The only install between seeing them and not seeing them was installing Hauppauge soft PVR so I could get analogue going in media centre (vista)

I can see the channel logos, and GB-PVR scans & recognises them, but no picture or sound.

Be greatful if I could get a couple of tips here team, would like to do some more testing before it all fets up & running properly.

I'm just a crazy newbie?
