I'm not that keen on a Chromecast. It is a nifty bit of technology, but my WiFi isn't terrific around the house. I think I would prefer a wired solution.

there is a wired adapter you can get for chromecast, but otherwise maybe apple tv? Raspberry pi with kodi (better for local content than netflix etc)

I have my AppleTV4 wired to the modem. Works great. 32GB is currently $270 incl GST at PB Tech.

Yes, they are on the more expensive end of the range, but you do get the protection of NZ consumer law by buying it here (something I always consider when sourcing electronics). I guess it also depends on your gadget ecosystem as to whether it's worth the extra spend. My house is very Apple-centric so for me it was an easy choice :o)

They are more expensive, but they are also a lot more NZ relevant. FireTV is great at Netflix/Hulu and Plex (that is what I used it for - and Amazon content). AppleTV already has TV3OD and Lightbox. TVNZ will eventually pull their fingers out their bums, and Sky have promised FanPass is coming. There are no NZ relevant Android TV boxes on the market here are there?

You can sideload FanPass to FireTV and Nexus Player

Download the app from somewhere like apkpure
