I have just done scans on DVB-T and DVB-S and I can now see Duke available.  It has replaced TVNZ PopUp on channel 13 in both cases, with the service ID changing from 1204 to 1205 on DVB-T and from 1903 to 1904 on DVB-S.  It does not seem to be present on Sky yet - it is supposed to be channel 23 there.  Now I am off to see what its EPG says.

I've got it on Sky now. Channel 23, just on an old standard Sky box (not MySky, or one of the new upgraded boxes).

Odd that they're launching with a 6pm to midnight schedule only.. I suppose the hours will widen once they pick up more advertising.

Apparently feedback for a primetime channel was strong.  It'll be supplemented by sport outside those hours - as per the Popup 13's previous (existing?) sports lineup.

Wonder if they will show the NFL and NBA repeats in the evenings as they do now or is all that gone..

Regards,

Old3eyes

Wonder if it will be HD on Sky. Pity it doesn't seem to be HD on FV OTA..

The sky feed is taken from the Freeview Transponders on Satellite in SD, given the infrastructure and the current bandwidth issue on the Satellite, nothing can be done until SKY closes down their MPEG2 channels and reloads them in MPEG4 to allow for HD and UHD services, HD could come to Duke, you need to pressure TVNZ though, contact them directly via the website, social media too.

Will DUKE be available in HD?

The channel will be broadcast in standard def. HD isn’t on the cards for launch but it’s something we’ll keep in mind for the channel’s future development.

As for online, some of DUKE’s content will be streamed in HD, not all of it – we’ll always put it out in the best possible quality.

Had a look at your stream URLs.

SD Stream is 640x368

HD Stream is 480x270

Something a bit odd there. How did you grab the stream URLs?

not sure where your getting that HD stream figure from it should be 720p at around 2.5mbit bitrate

VLC provided the details

I must admit I enjoyed the Showtime show "Dark Net" that was on tonight.

Also a great place to run shows that should be in prime-time but don't have the audience for TV One + TV 2.

I had a quick look last night on Sky channel 23 but it was a bit of a mess. Pressing the information button on the Sky remote showed the same program description listed for three (different) shows in a row, but I suspect this is Sky's fault for not updating the EPG properly, rather than Duke's. Over on Sky's website there is no mention of Duke at all yet, either in the list of channels/packages or in the online TV guide.

They start showing the AFL from this Thursday night, so I'll definitely be watching a lot of that.

They will get that sorted today along with the Freeview website as well which still shows TVNZ POP UP

Update: Freeview website now updated
