I forgot to include LightBox access in the wish list also.

A big congratulations for your team. The T2200 has been installed in our house for a couple of years now and continues to give good service.

Still way better than buying the name brand units that will upgrade for 12 mths and then leave you high and dry until their next model is ready.

I agree, but my wish list has Netflix

I tend to disagree with good service from the unit - have owned the unit 1 week, its 'clunky' and straight away artifacts and juddering, found to be the quality of the signal was dropping from 98% to about 60% being unstable (never have any issues with the Magic TV box it replaced) Bought a band filter to sort this issue then a few days later over 10 channels vanished from the EPG and if for example the channel 3 button was pressed there would be a 'invalid entry' message, tuner 1 wasn't working but tuner 2 was ........ rebooted system, same issue. Messaged dishtv yesterday but no reply as yet so phoned and was told to reboot then if that doesn't work rescan all channels or factory reset as this happens sometimes?? this is a brand new unit customers shouldn't be having to fault find and fix known issues - unsure of the quality of the hardware inside but 512mb of Ram indicates its built on a very tight budget even though the price indicates otherwise.

No new updates on my Freeview Desk here, flick a message to Choice TV and see what they have in store? Freeview continuously works with broadcasters about new technology such as Freeview On Demand

I have been looking at getting a T2200. I was pretty daunted at 77 pages of discussions about the product, so I read just from March 2017 onwards. Honestly, its still pretty daunting, but my one line summary would be:

"Good NZ support, but can be buggy. It seems some units are faulty and should be returned. Still seems to have a risk of frustration". Is that fair?

I wondered if anyone could post an up to date review, i.e. what a new user should experience with the latest firmware update. Is it very stable, generally stable, or still often presenting bugs? I guess the other main challenger is the Panasonic DMR-HWT260GN - does one of these have a clear advantage in stability/ease of use?

Also I thought readers of this thread might like to know that The Warehouse has a fantastic deal on the T2200 at the moment - ONLY $199 until 05/09/2017!!

I've stopped using the T2200 and bought the Panasonic. So far I find it vastly more stable. I got sick and tired of the T2200 constantly breaking up the screen (the Panasonic and other previous devices like my Magic TV never did this and were perfectly fine, only the T2200 had a problem) and the fast forward and rewind always managing to get the sound and image out of sync. It's just crap hardware, don't even bother with it.

Are you able to access On-Demand and LightBox with this unit?

Were you advised there would be software updates available?

On demand, yes no problem. Lightbox, not sure, but if it's on the web the Panasonic can probably access it. Good number of apps available for it including straight out internet access. It does come with a Netflix app built in, so there you go.

Oh and you can share anything you have recorded on it with any iOS or Android device that can install the Panasonic Media Centre app. So I can sit at my desk at work and watch stuff I've recorded at home on my iPhone or whatever.

As for updates, it updated when I first set it up, and it has a scheduler you can use to check for other updates. But I'm yet to come across anything that it needs updating for. Unlike the T2200 which is constantly being updated with bug fixes etc.

Thanks for your feedback. Like you I'm investigating due to TiVo nearing its end of productive life. Are you able to list some of the apps available as all I've read just basically says a Netflix app and is light on other apps available.

The multi-room feature via DLNA looks good and assume it includes streaming TV1, 2 and Three? I was dubious about it as had heard the HD channels (TV1, 2 and Three) were encrypted so couldn't be streamed to another local device.

I haven't tried streaming TV1, 2 and 3, just tried playing back something that I'd recorded on Maori TV to my iPhone via the internet, and that worked just fine.

How are you running the On_Demand function?

What about alpha input in searching on the web, do you use the Panasonic remote or an IR keyboard?

You get to the On Demand apps via the FreeView plus guide. Alpha numeric input is via an onscreen keyboard and the remote control, so pretty slow and clunky, but I think you can control the box via an iPhone app as remote control, so perhaps that makes it easier, I haven't tried to be honest.
