Hi there,

I'm looking at getting a T2200 to replace my Tivo which will become obsolete in a couple of months.

We own an old CRT TV which is great for young ones and will retain till they are a little bit older.

My question is once I connect the T2200 to my CRT TV (no HDMI ports) can I connect a Chromecast to the T2200 so I can have live streaming to my TV from a laptop??

Jase, thanks for the clarification on that.  If I have to go through the TV and it only has RCA's, I had a google and I could plug the chromecast into a HDMI/RCA cable into the TV.

Sound about right.

Or I get a new TV....

I am buying 2 of these Dish TV T2200 units to replace my Tivos.  One for the lounge and one for the bedroom.  I am wanting to know can I transfer any recordings from the unit in the lounge to the unit in the bedroom and vice versa.  I was able to do this with Tivo as I had their home network package and it was one of the features that I really really really liked with Tivo.  I could start off watching a recording in the lounge and finish off watching it in the bedroom which was good especially in the winter months.  How can I do something similar with the Dish TV unit.  I know you can transfer a recording to a portable usb drive but that seems rather such a big ordeal.  Can DLNA transfer recordings between my 2 Dish TV units using my home network. Thanks.

I'm trying to sort something out for my parents using a similar scenario.  I believe you can stream "live TV" from the T2200 to another device using a player like Kodi or VLC but doesn't make mention of viewing actual recordings.  This would be an absolutely brilliant feature and good up-sell for them if it could stream between DishTV devices.  As it so happens my parents already had the T2100 but there's nothing in it that will connect to the T2200 that I've found.

If the T2200 did support streaming recordings I could jack up a Raspberry Pi, Android TV stick or similar to handle playback.

Is it possible to move a recording from a Dish T1050 harddrive to the T2200 harddrive?

I've just noticed that the 'Channel + -" button skips functioning channels that can be accessed by channel number or the guide.

How do I fix it please?

It looks as though it can't be done transferring recordings from one Dish TV unit to another by streaming it through ones own home network.  Thought it might be possible with DLNA.  But could it work if I use an HDMI splitter or switch coming from the Dish TV in the lounge and have one of the hdmi cables going up to the TV from it and run the other hdmi cable to the other Dish TV or to the TV in the bedroom.  Would I be able to see the recordings from the lounge Dish TV on the TV in the bedroom, but if it did work, how would I be able to control what I would be watching as the remote for the Dish TV in the bedroom would not be able to control the Dish TV in the lounge where the recordings are coming from.  Oh I wish the powers to be weren't pulling the plug on Tivo as there appears to be nothing comparable on the NZ market that has that feature of streaming recordings from one unit to the other.cry  Hopefully the smart people at Dish TV can make it possible to stream from one unit to the other and if they do I hope us existing customers would get that feature through firmware updates.  I can only hope.

You can move recordings to and from the units using a Harddrive, you will need to head to the File Transfer window of the units to do this, at this stage we do not support the function of DLNA transferring however as this provides easier transferring I will note this up to the guys at development.

A popular question we do get asked about a lot, It will be up to Netflix themselves to launch their service as they will need to ensure permissions and content providers are happy for this to be added to more devices, Give them a email or call and they will love to hear suggestions on where to grow in terms of app accessibility.
