I have had mine for 4 days now and love it. Does all I wanted and more. Its a shame they hadnt been marketed properly at the start and even now. If I had been more aware of these I would have bought one long ago. They really are a nifty machine

The upshot is if you buy from anyone other than telecom your downloads via caspa (apologies if that is the wrong spelling) would deplete your monthly download allowance, whereas buying from telecom would give you unlimited content downloads without depleting your broadband allowance. I have no idea if caspa is any good or competively priced but on the surface - it looks like it could save u trips to the dvd store on a wet evening - anyone care to comment on the quality or usefulness of the content download service?

As an aside: i put the word on telecom to give me the unit gratis to keep my telecom loyalty - will keep you posted as to their reply but it wasnt the usual straight out no

My opinion on Caspa is that it isn't great as far as movies go. Zune Video Marketplace on XBOX 360 is better. The only thing I have watched so far on Caspa is a free series called Last Chance Learners. That was quite interesting. If they had more mainstream movies then Caspa would be great.

You last sentence sums it up. The latest ones they've put on in the past few weeks aren't worth downloading..

Get so good main stream movies and new TV content and it may be worth it.

But no HD over component? That's probably one of the few features (besides DVB-S/S2) that would keep me from moving from the AH3110 to a Tivo. I really need to upgrade the TV for one with more HDMI ports, ay?

My Tivo is connected via component - the HD stuff looks pretty HD to me.

My Tivo is 720p over component. I cant try higher as the TV only does 720p maximum

EDIT: I know the Tivo isn't FV certified, but I presumed that they would've crippled the output over component to SD only.

Back a few months ago when I connected one of our TiVos temporarily via component to our Full HD Panasonic 50" it wouldn't display above 576 lines for any channel including TV1/2/3. Full 1080i worked over HDMI of course.

It's always possible it will do HD over component with the latest firmware, but I'd be surprised if it did.

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

As far as I know it will not allow full 720/1080 over any connection except HDMI. This is to stop you copying HD content. The same thing applies if you use the Tivo Network component and copy it off your computer. You cannot do HD

Although they were about $800 only a few years ago ago, so they were not such good value back then. But for $200 nothing else compares.

I wonder why they would supply a set of component cables then rather than an HDMI one? Maybe the Ozzy one works HD over component and when you set NZ during the setup it's disabled..
