I just went out to Dish TV in Hamilton and bought the gen 3 remote for $35.00

It definatly makes a difference, you don't have to use it like a rifle sight as I had to do with the original remote that came with the T2200.

The buttons are larger with more spacing and make a clicking sound as well so you know it been pushed.

Its made the controls a lot more positive now as the IR field on the top of the remote is 30mm wide.

I think that most of the lag problems are coming from the tiny buttons and the narrow IR field on the original remotes.

Its something that Dish TV should replace with the the T2200 boxes being sold as everyone has always complained about dish TV remotes, they might sell a lot more to ex Tivo owners as well :)

@joshhill96 "there is no new software available, please try again later" when checking via network or air on the unit. There is also nothing on the website for it.

This one thing that really bugs me, and it isnt the first time, you tell us there is an update available but there is no way for us to actually get it.

you have skipped over my response?

where is the update?

Kia Ora Everyone,

I am letting you know that I am departing my role at Dish TV Technologies and will not be an official agent to resolve questions or queries, I have a few weeks to clean up a little and will provide info and support until my last day.

I would like to Thank you all for contributing in these forum posts on Dish TV over the last few years since 2014, I started this work when I was a teenager in University,

I am keeping my profile for personal forum engagement rather than splitting between work and private so I will still be on Geekzone, but this time rather as personal than work comitment. I am still contracted to work with Freeview on their custom built forum, you can find me there answering and providing specialist advise, as well as announcements and more.

I am still uncertain on the future of these discussions but I am sure one of the other agents will continue answering your questions or queries.

I will let you know when I sign off for the last time

Thank you once again,

Josh Hill

GregV: Josh, any option for us to have the original remote replaced with the Gen2 (without having to buy one)?

If you are having issues with the remote, let the phone or email desk know on the difficulties and they will be able to help you out.

I wish you all the best with any new endeavour that you undertake.

Thank you for your efforts on this post. It is support like this and also from the Dish Help desk that gives me confidence that buying the Dish products is the correct decision.

Cheers

Sorry if this has been asked before and more a presales question. If a series link is set for a programme, will it automatically record subsequent seasons without setting a new series link for each new season?

By comparison a TiVo season pass will record all episodes of subsequent seasons but the Panasonic equivalent does not. That said the Panasonic does have a new feature where you can enter a saved search and it will record whatever matches it.

@Groucho pretty sure you have to do this yourself as it take information from the guide and it doesnt have the information for a new season. the tivo is a little bit smarter in that respect.

In regards to remotes for the T2200 I have just got the Gen 2 remote & was wondering where is the Schedules list button?

I know I can access is through MENU then scroll to SCHEDULE. Is there not a one button push like the original had? (schedule/list button)

I've found the GEN 2 remote much more responsive & without having to point directly at the T2200. Feels quicker too.

I don't have a schedules button on the Gen 3 remote I purchased as well. I can get to it via the menu so its ok.

I've had the DishTv 2200 for almost a week now and its problem free and fast with the new Gen 3 remote.

It has a very clear picture but with a bit to much color but I fixed that by turning up the brightness on the DishTv box.

I've done a few series link recordings and it was ok with that and easy to find recordings.

It interfaces with my local network good and plays all the movies ok on my NAS server good.

The live pause is good as it records automatically in the back the background for 4 hrs on the channel you are on so when you hit pause its instantly

The rewind in pause is a bit chunky and not smooth live tivo was but its up to 32x and quite usable.

Recording is in full HD as well for the same clear picture as the tuner displays.

The guides load up fast and there is an option to use their enhanced 7 day guide as well which is good.

It makes the pannys look a bit clunky actually with their live pause and a few other problems I had.

Price was good as well @ $199 from the warehouse plus $35 for the new Gen 3 remote.

To summarize its problem free so far and it will be a good Tivo replacement for me.

I'm hoping the web remote will be updated to let you match your physical remote, for ease of use

Was that an app? I was referring to browsing to the IP of the T2200 from a device, which shows an original remote.
