Im a satellite tv novice, so bear with me!

Brought this box, plugged it in, already had a satellite and cable into the house. Great! Did a scan and picked up all the channels including FTA Trackside & SBS 1/2.

Now. Somehow there were doubleups of some channels, so I thought it would be smart to reset the unit to factory default and rescan them. Now Trackside and SBS are gone. So frustrated about to cry.

I am in Auckland, any help would be much appreciated.

Sbs is gone for everyone.
Trackside you'll have to manually tune
Frequency = 12671H
Symbol Rate = 22500

Sbs. Really? I enjoyed the free football.

Still no luck with T/S. Transponder etc? Still a bit lost. Though thanks for your reply :)

Is it back up? I scanned LNB 6 (Instead of 7) on my box and it found Freeview plus my lost Trackside, but only the Optus information channel...

Should just rescan yeah?

I don't know that it ever went away; I didn't have anything set to record from SBS during the suggested outage, and when I did see the post and checked, everything was OK. Phew! I just checked again, and all is OK (@11:27).

(I don't know what LNB 6 and 7 mean, sorry.)

A suggestion I didn't make yesterday, because it wasn't consistent with what you'd written, I'll make now, since you again have Trackside. Do you have any other decoder sharing the dish/LNB? If so, that may be holding the LNB in H polarisation, preventing receipt of SBS, which is V polarisation.

If not, I'd still suspect something is adrift with receiving V-pol - some setting in the scan function saying "check only H" or similar - just guessing here.

If SBS had never worked with your set-up, I'd have suggested that it could be an alignment/skew problem, as the signal level from the SBS transponder is a bit weaker, but that idea doesn't hold up well.

So, in summary:
It was working for you.
You did a reset and it stopped.
SBS may or may not have been down, but is certainly going now.

It boils down to the reset you did bollixing something up, and you have to find out what, or there is some other factor involved (possum in the dish; rat ate the cable; another box holding the LNB in H-pol; coincidental failure of LNB, etc).

Pretty much spot on.
Everything is back to normal except SBS.

Clarification:
I went to satellite setup > Optus D1
LNB No. 5 (Instead of 6/7/8) 10750 Low/High.
LNB Power on, 22kHz Auto with No DiSEqC

A blind scan with Optus D1 will not let me change the frequencies it scans, it is fixed between 11700 and 12750, it picks up the aurora satellie but nothing else.

SBS is on 12648V, so the frequency is in range.
Aurora is on Optus D2 I think, so if you are receiving that, maybe you do have a dish alignment problem. If that were so though I don't see how you'd be getting any D1 services. Weird.

I just had a look at an online manual. In the Blind Scan settings, are you sure that you have "BOTH" selected for Polarisation? If it is set to "Horizontal", it won't see SBS, which is V.

UPDATE: This is getting ridiculous! I get everything BUT sbs, so frustrated. I find the Channels BTV? and INFO 156E? as well as Sky's Playn Tv, Weather, Mind Games, Sport Mosaic and a channel named "Ambulance", all blocked ofcourse.

Is there anything im doing wrong? Your help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Stick.

Try to add the SBS transponder information manually - see page 18 of the manual (assuming yours is the same as the online one).

Frequency:12648
Polarisation: vertical
DVB-S
Symbol rate: 12600
FEC: 5/6

Yes! Worked perfectly. Now all my channels are organised and set. Thankyou.
Are there any other channels I can get? (Crazy now haha) Ive noticed that Sky's weather channel is audible but not visual.

Thanks.

Good news.
No - there isn't anything else 'permanent' there at the moment. We had GEM, Go! and Ch9 for several months last year, and Ch10 appears at unpredictable intervals, along with various 'feeds'. Just watch the forum and someone will usually give a "heads-up" pretty quickly if something interesting appears.

Take a look at the lyngsat site for an idea of what is there at any time.

Thanks. Ive read that some channels require a s2 decoder. Might move on in a few months.
My initial problem is now solved. Thankyou to those who helped, this thread may now be closed.

Only Sky is using DVB-S2 from Optus D1 at the moment, and that is encrypted. Still, you never know when something new may come along that uses DVB-S2 - the channel 9 suite did.
