Bit of a strange one.

I have a new Sanyo 26" Freeview enabled TV (from the Warehouse) which keeps resetting the channel numbers from the friendly numbers to the digital RF numbers (eg 802 806 etc). E.g. rather than the 1, 2, 3 etc we are used to.

Rescanning seems to correct the problem, but it doesn't seem to stick for more than a day or so.

My research indicates that the broadcaster sends some data to map the friendly channel numbers for Digital and I was wondering whether a less than optimum signal might cause this part of the signal to drop and the TV to reset (or loose) the mappings to the friendly channels.

Is this likely or something completely different?  Should I be taking the TV back or checking other things first?  The signal strength is mediocre - but the stations all play without pixelation.  We have 2 other (different sizes) Sanyo TVs and no problems like this before.

First mistake, you bought a TV from the wharehouse ,

Sounds like it needs a firmware update, you can do that by either ethernet or USB or take it back

How is buying a tv from the warehouse a mistake ?
My mum has one and is pretty happy with it, all depends on what is required

Have you tried a factory reset in the options ?

I think there is a Sanyo nz support number as well but can't check as I am on my phone :>

I believe the Warehouse is still in public ownership and not subject to any treaty settlement yet.

I will look into the firmware and also search for Sanyo support and give them a call. (edit for spelling)

Update:
Sanyo has a online helpdesk, they redirected back to Warehouse Technical Support in NZ who sent me via email the firmware update and instructions - easy via service menu and USB.

So far so good problem seems resolved.

Resolution due to either
a, reconnecting and reseating TV cable connections or
b, firmware upgrade.

doing (a) seemed to improved signal strength

.. fingers crossed.Cool
