Hi All,

I have just put together a shiny new HTPC which uses a Hauppague WinTV 4400 tuner card receiving only a satellite signal. All was going well after the first (of several) Windows installs. After updating windows with the latest everything I installed only the hardware drivers including the latest TV card drivers then I searched around and found the right settings to use for NZ satellite (Region: New Zealand, Postal Code: 1234, Satellite: Optus D1 NZ, LNB Type: Custom Single Oscillator, Oscillator Frequency: 11300) and plugged them in to WMC and hey presto! Nothing. So I figured maybe WinTV was a requirement for it to work so I installed that and set it up, did a full satellite scan and this time it worked. It also worked in WMC now. So I sat back and happily watched TV for the evening blissfully unaware of the frustration heading my way.

Next day after restarting the PC after having changed nothing TV was extremely pixelated with half of the screen showing big blocks of green and audio was stuttering. Completely unwatchable. Bit of head scratching and an update of WinTV later (including a reboot) it all started to work again both in WinTV and WMC. But after another reboot it went nuts again.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting a decent signal based on the fact that I've ben watching TV via satellite using my old satellite receiver box for a couple of years and the only problem we got was occaisional rain fade during extremely heavy rain. Also WMC shows the channels giving 100% signal strength.

Since then I've done a couple of rebuilds and get the same result each time. To me it seems that the problem lies with the card and or the drivers. Unless there is something wrong in the bios that is making the card unstable?

Any help or advice much appreciated.
