Any preferences or tales of woe on the Openbox S09 or Openbox S10...?

I can get either here... they seem to tick the boxes... DVB-S, DVB-S2, HDMI 720p, basic PVR (not too much to record is there).

Just wondered if anyone has used them enough to recommend one ofver the other or point out their bugs.

Oh and maybe these SkiBox devices... >  http://www.satlinknz.co.nz/html/skibox.html

My S10 has a problem that it does not play back what it has recorded ... other then that it is a great buy for the price.
Also with the S10 you can use S9 firmware but not vice versa.

I cannot remember what it said as it was a while ago since I used it last.
Recording the programs was fine it was just unable to play the program from the external usb Hard Drive.
Also, I think it was just the one I got as I have never seen anyone else post that particular problem on sat forums.

No issue with my S10 playing back what it has recorded.
I'm generally very happy with the box for the price.
I also use it as a media player (playing other video content and mp3's). It's not as sophisticated as a dedicated media player such as WD Live, but good value for money.
I have an Aurora card and use it for viewing SBS and Central 7 off the C1 satellite (as well as the NZ channels on D1).

Well I jumped in and got the Openbox S10 for $179 and I'm happy with it.

Nice little unit. Basic setup without being over complicated (like my other Topfield) and everything works.

Blind scan works really well and since you can mark the channels you don't want (as Skip), and not just delete them, they dont reappear when you next perform a scan.

About the only real improvement would be to have different output resolutions for HDMI vs AV. If you select 720p for HDMI then that is also the frequency it trys to use on the AV out ports.. not really a great idea. They should have a 2nd option or just lock the AV to 576p
