Tried to record program on Plus1 starting in 30 minutes but recorder started recording TV1 immediately.
Same thing on Plus3, records TV3 straight away.
This is on a DishTV T1050pvr.
Any ideas?

Yes, they told me the same, that the set would try to record any instance of the programme. But it seems logical that if one instance has already started then it should choose the one still due to start but sadly thats not how it works.
Be interesting to know if all Freeview STB's do the same thing.

None of the 3 different Freeview PVRs I have exhibit this non-sensible behaviour.

Nor does my TiVo. I can specify which instance of a programme I want to record. Even better, if I have a season pass set for, say Bones on 3, I can go to Bones on 3+1, hit record, and it will record it, and not record the same episode on the earlier channel (freeing up the tuner to record something else).

Not only that you'll save disk space by recording SD instead of the HD you get on TV3.

The Magic TV would record from +1 if you did that.

The recorder should ask whether you want to start recording immediately or record from the replay at a later time. It's sometimes annoying if you're 90 seconds out from the timeslot and it wants to start recording an hour or two later.

I have the same problem DishTV told me its Due to the way the EPG works, also confirmed in a shop

No. If a programme is playing once and only once then it will start recording immediately. But if it's listed on the EPG as repeating at a later time such as on the +1 channels the recorder should be able to record the full timeslot from the rebroadcast.

The Magic TV gives programming priorities so if I'm recording two things at once and set it to record a thing from Choice TV that is repeated the next day it can record it the next day.

You could send DishTV a link to this thread.

It seems that no one will answer my question  Freeview no reply to email, Freeview shop will only state that all there products that the sell work OK  on TV + 1 channels

May be others here could try

http://www.freeviewnz.tv/help-support/contact-our-team.aspx

or freeviewadmin@freeviewnz.tv

The Problem is how did DishTV products get approved when the don't work, some sort of cover up..?

I gather that it supposed to work is that the missed recording on say TV3, you select it it then flagged TV3+1 at the delayed time and start the recoding from there.

The DishTV T1050 tries to do that but starts recoding strait away, but it does get flagged TH3+1 with the delayed recoding but that is not used.

I have asked DishTV when this will be fixed as its only DishTV products that have this problem.

I have just had a reply from DishTV and they state that they know about this Fault and will be fixed as a later date, with no ETA given.

I have sent a 3rd email to Freeview as the box is being sold as Freeview approved, when its not, they never replied to my last 2.

I think by not replying its a cover up as these boxes were never tested, and don't work to Freeview standards and should not carry the Freeview approved emblem.

Other things that you might not know about under Connectivity there is a option to Play Photos, Sound and Videos from a USB stick.

Sound does not work as the device does not support MP3 , Photos seem to work but the Videos need AAC Sound , Videos with MP3's play with out sound. there is reference in the latest V4 manual page 28.

Good to know its going to be fixed. On the whole I have found DishTV to be very responsive to issues. They have told me that the MP3 porblem is a licensing issue and will be sorted out in a new update. Also, access to the hard-drive via the usb port will be added soon allowing archiving of the drive contents to external storage. This will be a major plus in my opinion.

And contrary to Freeview approval terms I should think - unless it uses hardware specific encrypting.

Yes wishfull thinking I dont belive the rubish about MP3  as there are 3rd party decoders, funny there other products list MP3 support.

I also got a similar reply regarding NTFS that they could not use because of licensing issue, funny how other PVRs use it plus a search on the new provided a link to a 3rd party version.

Its allowed to backup but only in SD mode, so HD and Full HD recordings will have to be down converted.

This mention of Freeview approval terms get right up my nose as this PVR  is Freeview approval but cant even record
the delayed TV channels.

And when emailing Freeview that cant even have the decency to reply.

I wrote to them way back in Oct/Nov  about the MP3 thing and that a AVI video will play ok with AC-3 sound
track, but told me that they did not have a licence for Divx  but that is funny that I can play a AVI fil.

So may be next year we might get the fixes, the thing that really bugs me is that its a Freeview approved box that
cant record TV + 1 channels.

Sadly, I suspect that you are spot on the money. Logically, Most people would interpret Freeview certification as "this signifies that the box has been fully tested by us to ensure that it meets our rigorous quality standards". In fact it doesn't seem to mean that the box has attained a minimum level of quality or that it even works properly - all it seems to mean is that the box has been comprehensively crippled and stripped of any useful functionality that might conceivably not be aligned with broadcasters' business models. It doesn't matter if it is buggy, crashes, can't record properly or has rubbish picture quality - as long as it won't record to an unencrypted file, won't output HD over component, and doesn't have any form of X-second skip functionality.

The depressing thing is that most casual buyers will be taken in by their branding and cheesy TV ads, and regard FV approval as being a mark of a premium unit - rather than an up-front warning that after they have paid their money the customer should shut up, lie back, and think of England......

Quite frankly, given their abysmal contempt for viewers, I'm not surprised that they won't respond to emails. I wouldn't worry too much it either - based on the their responses to earlier "ask Freeview" threads, whatever you ask they would just tell you that someone else is responsible and "the dog ate their homework".
