WHY CANT Freeview NZ take some responsibility?

In the last two weeks with both Satellite freeview and now UHF freeview there are issues which they will not admit to.

Last week there was recording issues with programs booked in the EPG and my unit not being able o book because there was no crid data? Also not keeping us the public up to speed about the ChoiceTV being added. That even though ChoiceTV said they were broadcasting on Satellite that Freeview Approved boxes would not get it.

So many people on the net have been trying to tune it in with no success. They knew this but would not correct ChoiceTV or put a notification on their website?

Last night TV3 and a few other channel disappeared off my UHF freeview box. (not a signal issue)

Every time I rescanned in the channels they all appeared but then a minute later it said new service added and some channels disappeared again and there was channels like “Panasonic SSU and Oriental SSU”

Phoned and emailed Freeview NZ and they say ”No there is no fault with the transmission, phone the manufacture.”

I know that SSU is for over the air updates and this mush of just been added.

Yet they refused to admit it. I phoned the Manufacture of the unit and they said Freeview NZ had admitted it to them. ??? What? That's right they don't want to look like they are at fault. To high and mighty they are freeview NZ.

Why the heck cant freeview NZ take responsibility for the stuff up and save every one phoning around and going back to the shop where it was bought to only find out it was a transmission problem????

Customers of freeview approved boxes are having their time wasted due to freeview NZ and they wont take responsibility. I feel sorry for the stores / distributors who don't know better and must be replacing freeview units for customers when there is nothing wrong with the unit at all.

Shame on you Freeview NZ.

Wait until Analogue is switched off then watch the complaints start rolling in.
They really do need to get their act together.

I haven't had any problems with reception and lost channels. Could be your local tower? The only problem I have had is with freeviews EPG and it not updating for tv1+1. A rescan fixed that.

Perhaps buy a tivo, as that doesn't rely on the freeview EPG?

I had the same thing last night with TV3 and TV3+1 disappearing and the “Panasonic SSU and Oriental SSU”
coming up as new services on my Dish TV T1050PVR.
Tried the same rescanning and the channels came back only to vanish again.
I'm new to freeview so at least pleased thats its not just me and my week old stb.

Does thing sort of thing happen often and how quickly do thay normally fix it?

Are you both in the same area? Perhaps it is a kordia / transmission problem?

It's non freeview approved, but it is still a freeview box. It did even have a freeview booklet with it. Personally I find it a heck of a lot more reliable than the approved freeview tuner on my TV, and the EPG is far better too, as it has 2 weeks of listings and not laggy.

Firmware update channels should not be visible to the end user. These will appear in a scan on most devices, but will then be hidden. There is nothing new about these channels, they have been broadcast since Freeview began to allow firmware updating of devices in the marketplace.

I'm in Rangiora, North Canterbury.

Just noticed this on the Network Status page.

Freeview|HD viewers: There was a system outage last night which has been fixed. If you are missing channels please re-scan your digital receiver.

Yes they put that notification up about 24 hours after the problem actually happened...

I advised TVNZ about the EPG fault and within moments after the data was up,

Its best to contact the owner of the channels if issues with service continue
