I have a Dish TV s7090 Freeview HDD box.  I am loving it - particularly after the recent (for me anyway) firmware update.
Question though ... can you transfer the recorded programmes OFF the HDD?  There are a couple of programmes I don't want to loose and would like to be able to watch saved programmes on my laptop when traveling.
Google doesn't seem to have an answer as to how to do it.  Anyone got it sussed?
cheers
Greg

On my Vu+ you use an FTP client such as FileZilla and it's a piece of cake. Given that Dish TV is also based on Linux, I would have expected an FTP server to be lurking somewhere under the hood. Have a poke around in Setup and you might find it...

Hi ya ... yeah nothing I can see .... hence this post.  Can connect to a network but only for email, maps, weather etc.  Nothing in the manual or settings about accessing a file system or transferring stuff off the HDD.
Should be there I would have thought too ..... just can't find a way in.

no cant copy them off it.  When I got mine they advertised that would be able to with future firmware update.  They dont advertise that anymore so not hopeful they will allow it later after all

I think that part of the deal with being Freeview approved is that this is one of the features that they are specifically not allowed to offer (along with others like a 60 second skip etc).

Spoke to DishTV today on the phone... The firmware with the file transfer / copy to USB will be out very shortly. They said that this is not a freeview approved problem, just running test on the firmware now.

Interesting...
When the firmware comes out, it'll be VERY interesting to see the results!

Very interesting, maybe it's only prohibited for the HD terrestrial recorders?

If they had done this a few months ago, I would have purchased. However, as I can now get good terrestrial reception since they restacked the frequencies off Kaukau I have less interest in a sat box - even though I have a splitter on the sky dish and connecting cable for one in place.

Here's hoping they do the same with the aerialbox, otherwise I *might* buy the HNP for the Tivo.
