My wife tells me she wants a new TV

Beacuse of where we live, we can't get DVB-T.

Are there any TV's on the NZ market with a built in DVB-S tuner?

short answer no. However ther are some specialty shops like marine stores that have brought some in.  They are usually 19inch. Largest I have seen is 22inch.

It is best to buy a TV from main brand store and buy a separate satellite decoder. I would suggest one that you can record to like usb stick.  Personally I have a couple of pvr's with 500GB and 1TB hard drives

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard  graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner,  Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

The only ways you can get HD are from DVB-T and Sky HD. Freeview Satellite is SD only.

If you don't want to go the Sky HD route your best option is to buy a DishTV S7090PVR or UltraPlus X-9200HD and make sure it's plugged in through HDMI.

What TV did you have in mind and what's wrong with the present one?

There are devices you can get that will take a DVB-S signal and convert to a DVB-T signal so any Freeview|HD capable TV can tune it in however they are not cheap. Even a decent PVR would be much cheaper.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
