Looks like the shopping channel is live, with a extended loop of the video that is on their website.

They have already overdone the 'Shop Around' song!

Shop till you drop! I wish them well. There must be a market out there to justify it and if there isn't, well it will be the Shopping Channel that drops off Freeview. Unlike religious channels they won't have an endless pot of members' money to draw on so people will have to shop and buy to keep it viable.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I actually see this as a positive thing if they do it well. QVC has made massive money for some people in the US with products and we all know that NZ businesses need all the help they can get.

However if it turns into non stop infomercials then yeah. death to it.

Given that the primary audience is presumably going to be the unemployed, seems like a bad idea all round.

I can't imagine people watching it in lieu of "proper" TV, people with any nous would surely by things from "proper" outlets?

Ouch!

stevenz:"You are" = "You're" - Not "Your".  "They are" = "They're" - Not "Their" or "There".  You probably mean "lose" not "loose".  There's no such word as "Alot".

;-)

What is a proper outlet?

personally I wont be watching it but more and more shopping being done online and TV shopping is just an extension of that. There is an advantage for those in our community that cannot easily get to bricks and mortar stores.

If they were selling NZ made goods it would be good. But if it is cheap chinese stuff that they are importing, then it isn't doing much for the economy. We need to stop borrowing to buy cheap chinese rubbish that end up in our landfills.

I do like the look of the branding and the overall style of the channel, but the music they use is pretty horrible.

according to the bloke in charge it's mainly aimed at woman and he reckons there is an audience of 600,000 of them with nothing better to do than sit at home watching the shopping channel and spending madly, Sorry guys you are to busy earning the money and working to bother with shopping.

I watched about 30 seconds of it tonight. So terrible. Forced, awkward banter, gah.

Cheers,
Joseph

No real interest in it to be honest. How about a sci-fi channel ;-)

For buying/reviewing stuff I have the internet :-)
