I just swapped out an old graphics card in my mediapc for a new faster one, but now graphics cards are double in width, and it took over the top of my freeview mini PCIexpress card slot. is there any flexible cables that can sneak in underneath and allow me to put the freeview card one slot over?

Hi,

I have had some success in the past with ordering such flexible riser card (mine was for PCI e 1x but I think there was also upt to 16x) from some asian seller on ebay.

I will try to find out where I bought them from if I can but I found them by simply googling it. Maybe try to add "ebay" in your google search and see what comes up.

I'm ashamed to say that I laughed after reading the first post. I didn't realise such things were possible - obviously I was wrong!

Somebody else's turn to laugh at me...

Do you know if there is a riser that can break a x16 physical slot into multiple x1, x2 or x4 slots?
Alternatively, can multiple x1 risers fit into a single x16 slot?
Just thinking this would be an interesting way to squash more PCIe x1 devices into my PC if it were possible...

to answer you question NO unfortunately the way the slot is configured each starts at the front and gets progressively longer as more lanes are used for greater bandwidth

The front part is the power, and the extra lanes are in the back part. I dont know if the card detection stuff is in the front or the back part and how that would work.

In the PCI days there were PCI bridges that handled muliple cards into one slot, not sure ifanyone has made something like that for PCIe tho

You're right, power is a problem, and so is the clock. Wikipedia has a helpful pin diagram.
There are multiple sense pins to detect how many physical lanes the card has.

Sorry, dumb question.
