I'm hoping someone can verify this for me before I tackle Freeview on Facebook about it but I don't appear to have Mediaworks mux on my Panasonic DMR-XW380 recorder.

I can tune it in on my Sony TV and I can get JDA's mux as well as TVNZ's on my recorder so I can probably discount it being an issue with the unit.

I can, strangely enough, get the frequency on UHF 32 but I cannot get the channels themselves so something may a little off down here in Southland and it may only affect Panasonic recorders.

So what do other Geekzone members think it could be?

I already know about that and that was all done around a week or two back so I know it's not that.

Let's try the old approach: restart it, retune the whole thing (not only scan for new channels if there's such an option), restart it and see if it works...

As I said in the previous reply I've made on this I know about that and as you'll notice that was done between Sept 20 and Oct 1 so that's now fully completed as far as I'm aware and that has already been done on my recorder and on my TV.

Took your advice, reset the unit by unplugging and then going through the entire setup and still nothing.

And as I said I'm still getting JDA and TVNZ but not Mediaworks and The Shopping Channel so the gremlins are certainly working their magic today.

Where are you located? What kind of antenna are you using (internal, external)? Is this a new antenna? Have you checked the readings from it?

I'm in Invercargill using an outdoor aerial that we've had up since mid 90's, at best, and the readings coming off the Mediaworks mux are a solid 10 on quality and signal strength.

And just out of interest the TV's readings are signal quality 100 and signal level 91 so something is definitely off and I do not believe it is anything at my end because why would it pick up on the TV and not on the recorder if it was the aerial or cabling? Surely, both devices wouldn't bring up Mediaworks if it was that.

I just want to add that when the future proofing occurred a few weeks back down here my TV was fine with it but the recorder had to be retuned and that's why I think someone did something last night that may be affecting some Panasonic units, but not TV's with built in tuners.

Could that be possible?

My setup
Sony Bravia KDL-26BX320
Sony Blu Ray Player BDP-S360
Panasonic DMR-XW380

Essential network maintenance and upgrades will be carried out from time to time in order to continually improve the delivery of programmes to living rooms across New Zealand.

These may temporarily interfere with normal broadcasting transmission and affect your TV viewing experience in the form of signal losses across most / all channels.

The transmission providers take precautions to minimise any impact to your Freeview viewing experience, by performing these updates after peak TV viewing hours, usually in the early hours of the morning.

If you've experienced a sudden signal loss on only one channel, or issues with a group of channels managed by one particular broadcaster, please contact the broadcaster responsible for transmission.

If reception across all or some channels is a recurrent problem for you, it's very likely caused by incorrect set-up, try our troubleshooting FAQs.

Found this on the freeveiw site, not sure if it will be much help though

I've got a Panasonic 380 and in Dunedin. I can check to see if it'll receive Mediaworks and The Shopping Channel if any help.

But I don't where to start looking... or what channel.

Cheers - Kirk

I think they are still making changes or at least up to a week or so ago, as I got a warning on my tivo that the tv line up had changed again.
