I upgrade my 32" TV for a TV that's got an internal freeview decoder. so now I got a 32" tv with a box that I would like to use in another room on freeview so is there any internal UHF aerials that are any good?

I don't want to get a dick smith special that wont do the job.

I am renting at the moment so I can't drill holes in the house.

You didn't provide any useful info. Maybe tell us distance from transmitter and transmitter concerned. And any other interesting details concerning the terrain between you and transmitter.

well I'm in hamilton and I believe the signal is coming from MT Te Aroha

to be honest I'm not 100% familiar with where the broadcast antennas can be found.

There are two transmitters for Hamilton - one from Te Aroha, and another lower-powered infill transmitter broadcasting from the CBD (top of the Centreplace building, from memory). Te Aroha is horizontally polarised, while the CBD transmitter is vertically polarised.

Where in the city are you?

I'm in chartwell, the aerial is pointing east to west.

Unless you can see the Transmitter at Mt Te Aroha you're unlikely to get much signal with an indoor antenna. Likewise with the in-fill transmitter. Still worth a try though.

Buy a phased array http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/large-phased-array-aerial-freeview-p-595.html and try it indoors. Otherwise forget it.

Have you talked to your landlord about this?

It's my understanding that they can't 'unreasonably' prevent you from installing attachments to the house, and if they're willing to go halves in the cost of a proper UHF setup then the cost to you probably wouldn't be much more than buying a decent amplified indoor antenna. You may want to point out to them that the lack of a TV aerial is likely to put off potential future tenants.

Thanks everyone for your response. not really the one I was looking for. I guess I was looking for that magic bullet type fix. :)

Oh well I might just have a chat to the landlord to see what his thoughts are on it.
