Hi,

I know there is no epg on optusd2, can anyone tell me why? Ie it is a limitation of the technology, or a decision by the broadcaster? If broadcaster, why would they do this? What do you think are the chances of them including one? Could we perhaps write to them and ask them to consider? Am I being to naive :). Who is the broadcaster?

Looking at getting a ultra box 9200hd. And the lack of an epg on optusd2 is going to be a pain.

Thanks for your help.

Miles

Electronic guides are available on a computer through your preferred broadcaster’s website and as a compiled list on http://freeviewnz.tv/tv-guide.aspx. Alternatively, you can find listings in a newspaper or "TV Guide".

Yes I realised this, and have the guide I want, however by using an epg it's easy to select the programme we want to record, directly from the pvr, without having to much around with times etc, hence my question

I think Optus would broadcast the data if the data was provided to them and the required bandwidth were paid for.
My guess on how it works...
D2's operation is managed by Optus. Anybody who pays for it can put a channel up there. Non-local channels seem to use "distributors" (like GlobeCast) to handle the uplinking. So for example, RT and NHK World will be paying GlobeCast to handle the feed ingest and uplink. GlobeCast pay Optus for the bandwidth.
Why channels don't provide EIT with the channel stream I don't know. Maybe it is an additional service that GlobeCast provides that costs extra money. You should be able to get XMLTV data for such channels from alternative sources.

An alternative viewpoint: maybe the channels want you to hit their website to check the guide. This might give them a chance to make money via advertising.
