My mother-in-law's LG TV has suddenly decided to stop showing Maori TV, Prime, Trackside or Choice on Freeview.  She can still get Prime on the analogue tuner, but not on the digital tuner.  The EPG still comes up though - just no picture or sound for those channels.

I've checked on my Panasonic TV and Blu Ray recorder, and we can get everything.  We both live in Palmerston North.  So I don't think it's a broadcast problem, or an antenna problem.  We've tried re-auto tuning.  Any ideas?

Sounds like an antenna/co-ax problem now that its very wet after a drought.
Check the antenna and co-ax for water entry and bad joints. If the signal was marginal to start with then the rain has probably reduced the signal strength sufficiently to drop the weakest mux below the threshold.

Thanks for the suggestions.  We discovered the cause of the problem, though it doesn't make any sense.  It seems to be related to the proximity of the Orcon modem, which was right behind the TV.  As soon as we moved it away (by about 50cm), it was fine.  It doesn't make any sense because it's been there the whole time (for about 6 months now), and nothing else has changed, so it's a mystery why the problem exists, but at least we have found a way to get the channels back.  Weird...
