Jus wondered if anyone had heard of the possiblity of triple (or more) channel recorders in the works.

With the increase in disk space for these machines plus the increase in channels, sometimes you might want to record more than two channels at once and there's defintely the space for it.

As it is, I have both a Panasonic twin tuner plus a magic TV. Doesn't happen often but its good to know I can record up to 4 channels at once if I want. :)

There are plenty of such devices - they're called HTPC's. Providing you have 3 tuners your ability to record every channel simultaneously will be limited solely by HDD throughout in your PC.

Just add a tuner (card or USB) to your PC or Laptop.
I have a Panasonic Recorder plus a Hauppage HVR2200 card in my PC  so I can record up to 4 channels at a time.

I have 1 Dual DVB-T tuner (Nova t 500) and a Satellite/DVB-T hybrid - giving me 3 DVB-T tuners, one for each transmitter frequency.

I have (mostly as a test) recorded every channel that is available to me.  And no the hard drive didn't start smoking - but it was probably close.

I've never seen one of these gadgets in action. Do you just have one aerial cable going into it?

Essentially yes.  It's the software onthe computer that makes all the difference.  From simple record now, record between this time and that time on this day, and the last (and best open) is record this program, recardless of day, channel or time or length.

But I will say unlike a consumer device they do need a little baby sitting - depends how complicated you make it.  I'd have to do something on mine about once a month.  But that more the playback side that recording - its rock solid for recording.

Thanks for that info. My PC is so old it could just about vote now. Hehe.

One of these days I'll shell out on a fancy new one. In the mean time, the only computer I use at home is the partner's lappy.

One UHF antenna, new RG6 co-ax and a good quality 2-way splitter under the house with one output to the PC and the other looped thru the Recorder to the TV.

Magic TV now has support for 2 or 4TB hard drives, and with multiple processor chips aroound, perhaps it's just a matter of time.

Internal HDD and USB record as well. Just buy 2 of them?
