I am just setting up media portal on my PC, have done this before many times and something that has always annoyed me a bit is that when you scan Optus D1 for the freeview channels you get 4 different TV1's and 4 different TV3's.

I presume these are regional variants but how do you know which one is which and does it really matter?

Thanks in advance.

Yep they are regional variants, each will have different advertisements but no real difference otherwise. Most TV adverts these days are from national organisations anyway so I doubt you would see much difference between regional feeds

Breaks have regional ads a couple of times an hour, usually the last few ads in a break. Not much difference, just local stores or different details. Can't remember which pid is which, sorry.

don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....

Thanks, next question:

EPG collector also seems to pick up all of these regional variants. Will each broadcast carry MHEG EPG data and if so will they all be the same?

You should be able to tick "enable channel movement detection" and have MP only pick up one of the channels. If it doesn't work, please let me know.

Thanks for the suggestion, tried this but with the same result: Four Channel 1's and Four channel 3's
