Your tv probably has a terrestrial tuner so the short answer will be no. You could get a satellite box and run that through your tv so you could then split the cable as you described.

Unless you can see the transmitter, e.g., Sky Tower, Pine Hill, Waiatarua, I would forget about an indoor solution.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Using an indoor antenna at 8? km or so may still be problematic given the low power of the Sky Tower transmitter. Maybe go to youtube and make a UHF antenna from designs on there.

It will be waitarua that can be seen from there. indoor antennas work sweetas at the same distance in beach haven. Even a 30ish cm piece of wire will get a largely glitch free reception on both inbuilts and my warehouse STB when upstairs with line of sight out the window.

Can you link to it on Dick Smiths site there is bit of a debate on various sites as to which indoor antennas actually work. There is so much crap being flogged as indoor antennas that simply don't work or work randomly.
