Hi all,

I just got this Freeview box and I can not get it to pick up a signal.

There are not instructions, but I assumed it would be straight forward.

Plug cable from wall to Freeview Box then Component leads to TV. Then search and configure Freeview box.

Problem is there is not signal light on the Freeview box.

Any ideas??

first thing what aerial have you got and are you actually in a Freeview UHF area.

Edit to say. Not sure why you didnt receive the user manual with it but you can download it from dishtv site

Gilco2: first thing what aerial have you got and are you actually in a Freeview UHF area.

There are two wall sockets, I plugged a cable in one of them and in to the tv to see if it works and picked up 2 snowy pictures. So assume there is a aerial on the house.

I do have a crap One For All internal aerial I can try.

Got anything else to test signal is ok? If you are getting no lights though, it is probably stuffed. Take it back.

I am not being thick am I, all I need is a UHF aerial internal or external (wall socket) then connect it to the Freeview box. I do not need anything else do i??

Swapped the box over and still no luck.

The internal bunny ears aerial works on the TV by itself.

I look at the house and there is a sky dish, we dont have sky though. Can not see any TV aerials on the house.

Even though there are two sockets on the wall next to each other, so I assume one is tv and the other is sky.

That will be your problem then.

Try the bunny ears to see if you get a signal from them - you need to be in a pretty good area though. Most likely you will need to get an external UHF antenna installed.

I agree, I just assumed all houses have tv aerials...doh

There is a another socket in the main bedroom, so sounds like your right on the Sky disk loops through to another room.

We are renting so dont really want to get a UHF aerial installed, as we are going to be there only 9 more months.

Could try getting a internal better quality UHF aerial.

Would it be possilble to change the UHF Freeview box to a Sky Freeview Box and use the sky dish, even though I dont have sky??

You may be able to swap your new Aerial box for the DishTV S7070R. Same price but uses the Freeview Satellite system. Just plug into the existing sky dish and away you go

Of course you won't get HD if you take the option of Freeview via satellite - you probably know that already, but it's worth saying that before you decide on that approach. As you are using a component video connection to the TV, there's a good chance that it's not an HD TV in any case.
