i have my UHF aerial hooked straight into my samsung LCD, which then sends audio via optical to my Onkyo receiver. the audio offset seems different between the channels (especially prime)compared to say TV2 for example..
anyone else have this issue?
my uhf aerial is pretty an old sky UHF with not many focus x things on it. but runs in via RG6 to the tv.

It's probably the AC3 vs AAC issue all over again.

Samsung TV's used to be horrible with Freeview and for a number of years had no ability to select between AC3 and AAC audio.

Try using speaker sound on the TV and see if there is a sync issue. I bet there won't be.
If there's not then there must be a problem with the amp.
Only time I ever get sync issues is when they get a news feed via internet and hav a sync problem with the feed.
I fail to see why you think the antenna may be involved?

What audio feed are you using, AAC or AC3?

the spdif out put is selected tp PCM, it has the option of dolby digital but i cannnot select it.
the only audio output option i can see on the TV is "HE-AAC 2.0".there were two other options but i couldnt select them either.(and now i cant even find them in the menu)

i may do a factory default reset on the onkyo and reprogramme it and see if it makes any difference.
also would a firmware update on the TV make any difference??

Definitely do a firmware update. I've seen this fix lip sync problems before.

I've looked into the lip sync a fair bit and from my own experience tv 1 and 2 seem to have audio a few frames behind vision. This normally looks ok and can make up for the display delay in a tv if you have a laggy LCD or take your audio directly to an amp.

Tv3 and 4 seem in sync, but if you have any video delay in your system (like above) it looks out of sync because even a small one frame lead in the audio is really unnatural.

Tvnz U music clips are way out of sync, but the U-live presenters are in sync... Don't know what's up there.

Prime seems to vary day to day. Some days it's several frames out of sync, particularly on Letterman.

don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....
