So I'm I a new house which has the tv hub in my garage. I have sky tv in my lounge and a modulator to show the same picture in the bedroom .

I want a 3rd tv (which will have free view built in) in my living room, I have a tv port on the wall, will I get a picture or do I need to do something else to get my my free view going

Sounds like you have satellite TV (AKA Sky TV), adding a 3rd TV for freeview should not be a problem, except that the only TV's in NZ that have freeview built in are DVB-T which means you need a regular UHF aerial, whereas SkyTV is DVB-S (from a satellite), to watch freeview you will need a satellite box as freeview also offer a DVB-S service from the same satellite that skytv comes from.

2 choices here.

1) buy a satellite freeview box and connect it to existing satellite and freeview TV

2) put up new UHF aerial and wiring and plug directly in to your freeview TV

Insufficient info to give a suitable answer.
Are you in a FreeviewHD area or Satellite only?
What does your TVHub in garage consist of?
How are your wall sockets connected and to what?
Do you have a UHF antenna or only Satellite Dish?
Your new TV's analogue tuner will be able to tune the rf modulator from Sky provided it is distributed to the wall sockets.
The digital tuner will only tune Freeview if you have a UHF antenna and are in a DVB-T area.

I just had a look in the garage

There are two silver boxes with in and out connections. Out looks like there is enough for each room in the house with a port. The in must come from the sky dish outside???

Do you have a UHF aerial on your roof? You'll need one to use your 3rd TV's built in freeview.

No I don't, I would be happy to use a freeview receiver on my sky dish but my wall connections go back to the hub in the garage and I don't have a satellite connection in this room

Does a freeview receiver have input other than direct satellite cable?? Would my other cable/connection go into something in the freeview box and pick it up as its connected to the hub which is then connected to the sky dish?

I'm a bit lost with the last few questions, but I'll try to provide some clarity.

First a question, have you tried connecting the TV to the wall outlet? it might just work.

Otherwise. Assuming I understand what you've said. (a photo of the garage setup would really help here)
As it stands now, you have a satellite dish on the roof, it is then connected to the splitter in the garage, which then splits the signal and provides it to every room with an outlet.

For the extra TV to work as it is, it needs a Terrestrial (DVB-T) signal. That signal comes via a UHF aerial.

Your real options appear to be:
1) Get an indoor UHF aerial for about $50. You can get flat ones about the size of a plate. These don't work everywhere, so...
2) Get an aerial installed on the roof, have it run to the garage and install a device that combines the signal types then splits them around the house. This way you can connect your TV or sky decoder to any wall outlet in the house and never have to worry about this problem again.

Another option that has a high chance of failure:
- Get a Freeview Satellite decoder and connect it to the wall outlet, then connect it to your TV. It'd work a bit like a sky box.

Sounds like you need to get a pro in to look at the setup.
If you don't know how the hub works, what the units are and how they are distributed you have no show of getting things working.
Pictures will help.
It sounds like the dish is connected to the hub and distributed to the wall sockets. There may be provision to connect a UHF antenna and distribute as well but that has not been done.
I presume you are aware that Freeview terrestrial is HD and satellite is only SD? The is a massive diffence in picture quality.
Frreview terrestrial is to be preferred so I'd start by getting an external UHF antenna installed. Silverdale is unlikely to be suitable for an indoor antenna.

Okay, I'm going to use my old TV in this room which does not have freeview built in. So I'll buy a free view receiver.

My TVHub has an input from the SkyDish, it's seems to be split around the house and picked up by a very old school looking connection?

Does this make it easier to help?

There are TWO Freeview services: DVB-S (Satellite) and DVB-T (terrestrial, HD TV).

TVs with built-in Freeview support DVB-T only and for that to work you need to be in a Freeeview terrestrial area and have a UHF aerial.

Go to this Freeview coverage page and enter your address to see what services you can get at home. Just entering "Silverdale" tells me you can have both DVB-T and DVB-S service.

TVs with built-in Freeview are useless for DVB-S because they support DVB-T only.

You have two options:

- Plug the TV to a UHF aerial to have DVB-T (HD TV)
- Buy a separate Freeview DVB-S (receiver) and plug to a satellite dish.

Which option you chose will depend on if you want HDTV, if you have a UHF aerial or if you want to install a UHF aerial and so on.

How is your sky decoder connected, is it plugged into a wall socket?
