Set up box is dishtv S7010PVR. My one attempt at scanning was a shocker - changed all the channels from 1 onwards to 56 onwards LOL. I re set it to factory settings and all good but still no tv one plus 1. Turned the box off for the night, and still nothing. On channel 6 and 7 I have tv two plus one. grrrrrrrrrr, this is so annoying when you are not a tech wizard. Can anyone help, please?????
If the channels are scanning into the wrong numbers, that means that the box is not using the freeview supplied logical channel numbers, so its not a freeview branded reciever.
Best bet is to talk to the place you bought it from for advice as they will know the details of the unit. Freeview certified recievers will renumber automatically when there are channel numbering changes like this.
Have you tried looking on their website for a firmware upgrade? Could be a known issue already fixed.
I've got another brand PVR, and it's had about 4 or 5 firmware upgrades in the 18 months or so since I bought it; I wouldn't be surprised if your one also had updates. These may need to be downloaded and applied via a USB key...
Thanks, and yes I did that which made no difference. What I did was moved the re scanned channels to where they should be. NO idea if that was the right thing to do but it seems to be working ok so far.
The dishtv S7010PVR is a "free to air satellite receiver comes pre-programmed for Freeview and other channels", this does not mean that it's a Freeview box - just that it can receive the Freeview channels. Freeview are able to control the channel numbers on Freeview boxes using MHEG-5. Your box probably doesn't use MHEG-5. This has its upside as well as it's downside. From your perspective the downside is that the EPG might be a bit messy, and you have to manage the program numbers yourself. The upside is that you can tune in to whatever channels happen to be available on the satellite (there used to be some Australian channels that you could get - unfortunately no more - but we live in hope that something else will appear). If you perform a Blind scan you will end up with all the available channels. The user manual shows how you can arrange them (delete duplicates and arrange in the sequence you want). The manual is available here: http://www.dishtv.co.nz/images/stories/User_Manuals/dishtv%20s7010pvr%20user%20manual%20new.pdf
disclaimer: I have no association with DishTV - I just looked up the box using google.
