I guess another question of this type and yes I did use the search function first.

I live in Big Bay Awhitu and my house is on a hill on the beach. I can see the Waiatarua mast and the Auckland Skytower (quite a view) but would say Waiatarua is closer line of sight. Rough guess would be I am 16km in line of sight.

Simple Q then.

What type of aerial would people recommend? Sorry to be a pain, I realise it may be a simple answer.

I noticed Waiatarua is horizontal polarity and Sky Tower is vetical, so I guess I have to make my mounting choice pointed at either one and stick with it?

Thanks.

Go for Waiatarua over the sky tower if you can - the sky tower is only an infill transmitter.

I'd expect you will be fine with the 47 element one on this page, however, check and see what sort your neighbours have, and what direction it is pointing, and this will give you an idea as well.

You're quite right, the mounting will need to rotate 90 degrees from one to the other.

You'll probably be OK with the 21 element if you can see Waiatarua.
The only advantage SkyTower has for some people is that it has Asian Channels as well as Freeview. The TX power is much lower though.
Check with Dick Smith too. Their $99 antenna package is quite often on special at around $60 and I have seen it as low as $39.95 at times.

Got the aerial, 47 element job and mast etc etc. Just a matter of installing it all now.
