Hi guys.

I am looking at purchasing a Freeview recorder for my mum, however I am unsure what decoder/recorder to get. She has a UHF aerial, not satellite. Currently has a Freeview receiver, can watch tv using it but cant record. Would really only be watching/recording FTA channels.

She wants to be able to record.

I see Noel Leeming has a few, varying in price.

Cheapest: http://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/tvs-dvds/freeview-decoders/dishtv-t1000-freeview-hd-uhf-high-definition-1080p-receiver/prod121270.html

Middle: http://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/tvs-dvds/dvd-video/dvd-recorders/dishtv-t5050-single-tuner-uhf-terrestrial-receiver-with-usb-hdd-recording-wifi-adapter-support-and-dvd-player/prod124095.html

Most Expensive: http://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/tvs-dvds/freeview-decoders/dishtv-t1050-freeview-high-definition-recorder/prod112614.html

Whats the difference between the cheapest and the most expensive? It looks like the cheapest records, I just need to put a USB stick in? It has "single Tuner" does that mean you can only either record or watch, not both at the same time?

How big of a USB stick will I need? I have a few 4GB sticks, how many minutes/hours will that cover?

Thanks guys for all the help.

4GB will record anywhere from probably 50-80 minutes depending on the channel.

I highly recommend getting one of the Panasonic units - far superior.

- Ease of use is much better
- Remote is well layed out
- DVD/Bluray built in
- More reliable (in my experience)

The ease of use alone is worth getting one - especially for the not so technically minded
