I wanted to write a review but couldn't figure it out so thought i'd post it here for everyone to see.

DTVS Smart-1   After using this receiver/all in one unit for a good deal of time now I felt I should post this review to help do the unit justice. When I brought this unit I didn’t really hold out much hope of it doing what it said it did, we as consumers have been let down multiple times in the past but that has now changed. I was super surprised by this device as it handled everything I through at it.

Set up: The set up was an absolute breeze, a few presses of the enter key and I was done, had me worried because it all seemed a little bit easy but nope there were my channels playing perfectly. I jumped into the settings menu connected the wireless (without looking at the specs I believe it is 802.11N 150)

Other functions: It did take me a little while to get a hang of the remote but an hour or so in and it was nice and natural to use. So I’m an avid Android fan boy so it is possible that less technically minded people might struggle with certain aspects of this box, but then this probably isn’t the Freeview device for them. First of all I side loaded the play store once I had the play store the skies were the limit. On went the Facebook app, IMDB app and a few others all loaded flawlessly and worked without issue.. Again I was surprised by this.

Now onto the streaming content, I thought we would have the same issues here as we normally do with those android TV devices but again I was pleasantly surprised it played all formats I tried (mkv, avi, mp4, mp3 and flac) I did get it to fail finally on an uncompressed 40GB version of Avatar but hey even my desktop has to really work for this. I jumped online and found a bunch of overseas IPTV channels which I added via the web administrator page, these all worked fine however I didn’t actually find anything that was of my taste with a bit more searching I’m sure I could have found something.

Conclusion: This is a great device for both the average and technical users, its ease of use and the extra functions make this a front runner for STB’s. It probably doesn’t give you all the bells and whistles that an HTPC would give you but it’s also 1/5 the price. It does have its limitations but overall I think it was some of the best $400 I’ve ever spent.

You can always use the Amazon Android Store instead of the Google Play. I found that they have some of the apps not available on Play due to geo restrictions - for example Netflix and Hulu+ are available and I installed from there. This is actually a suggestion for any Android user...

Did you use the built in SAMBA server?  My DTVS Smart 1 arrived yesterday & I have had a bit of a play with it, but haven't figured out how to share USB drives over the network without downloading additional apps.  There is a SAMBA option in the setting menu to turn sharing on/off, but it doesn't appear to do anything.
