My wife would like to record "Ellen" at 4.30 on TV1 and set it via the EPG with a Panasonic XW380.
For the 3rd day in a row it's only recorded from 5pm so the first half hour is lost.

She's now setting it manually - but is there any way to contact the EPG people to advice they've got something wrong ?

My NZ LIstener magazine shows Ellen on TV One at 5pm each day.

However, the TVNow web site and my EPG (satellite) and my TV (UHF) all show a 4:30pm start!

Maybe the old rider of "correct at time of printing" applies, but yeah not a good look or even helpful for recordings.

I think the Freeview organisation is responsible for it, so maybe have a crack at them -

mailto:freeviewadmin@freeviewnz.tv
Call us: 0800 FREEVIEW (0800 373384)

Let us know how it goes.

Calling Freeview was irritating...   and frustrating. Nothing to do with them - ring Panasonic.

Strangely enough, it recorded later that day correctly, and ever since.

Has anyone here got a Panasonic XW 390 ?  From Aussie.  Non-Freeview crippled but what other problems might one expect using it in NZ?
Doesn't  matter if the EPG won't work (that'd be a plus!!) but will it receive all the usual digital channels OK ?

Thanks.

You'll probably find the idiots at TV One changed the time. They're always mucking about with shows. :-(

But Sky's EPG is pretty bad as well. Some of the channels are notoriously bad for playing a completely different show to what the EPG says it is.

So just who is resonsible for the EPG? Someone MUST sit down and type out the program description etc ... who is that and where are they?

The broadcasters are responsible for typing out their respective EPGs, nothing to do with freeview.

Freeview are merely the container for the broadcasts.

If correct (and you probably are) why did Freeview not say that instead of sending me to Panasonic?

Whoever does it really needs to get their act together. Apart from starting late, twice in last week programmes have finished early so you miss the last few minutes. Can't they set a correct end time? Wouldn't that have been a big part of it for the designers ? I don't mean live content, either. One was Shortland St.

The only reliable way to record remains manually.

The Sky TV box has an annoying issue. If you try to record two programmes that are on one-after-the-other on teh same channel, then the recording of the first show cuts out early because the second show starts recording ... you do still get the first show fully recorded, but it's in two parts with the end of the first show on the start of the second. :-\

Unless its got a NZ option it will not work here, Aussie Freeview is a different fomat.

Darn... Oh well so much for that idea.  I thought it viable as the HDHomeRun receiver works here.

I see the EPG is back to doing many +1's instead of the time you set.  And still cutting off before programme ends (e.g. Paul Henry).

Daylight savings time issue??

That simply proves the device is near-intelligent ... any intelligent person switches Paul Henry off before he even starts. ;-)

Possible I guess, but suddenly for no apparent reason ? It's done this before too... but appeared to come right.

LOL, fair enough!!!  But by gee, he says some things that NEED to be said!  A bit off-topic for here though!
