Hi,

Wondering if anyone has gotten good results using Win 8.1 and pci dvb-s cards for free-view satellite receiver?

I've been eye balling this card and ticks all my boxes, planning to use it with xbmc frontend.

TBS6982 PCI-E DVB-S2 Dual Tuner TV card

Any recommendations or warnings appreciated

As far as i know, that card should support Windows 8.1, as for XBMC i am not 100% sure on that but i presume it should work.

Not exactlty an answer to your question, but I have been using a TBS6981 pci-e dual tuner in win7 for years without any problems (and before that a single tuner pci TBS sat card as well).

This thread is a bit confusing.
The title asks about PCI cards, but so far the talk and suggestions have related to PCIe (PCI express) cards. In case you weren't aware: PCIe and PCI are not compatible.

The TBS 698* series are PCI express (PCIe).
The TBS 692* series are PCI.

XBMC doesn't natively support traditional TV. It requires some kind of backend TV software to get TV support. I'd recommend considering compatibility with your preferred backend software that has to control the card. To be clear, XBMC has no direct communication with the TV card.
