I can't skip Prime TV on Windows 7 Media Center, DVB-T. I previously had the issue with Four, and others here commented on the issue too. Well currently I can skip Four but annoyingly the problem is now on Prime. I have to skip through the ads, then press Stop, Resume to continue viewing.

Has this issue ever had a reasonable explanation other than not enough I-frames etc?

I'm trying to determine if it's a signal quality issue or if someone somewhere makes a decision to encode in a certain manner? Additionally are there any Freeview certified decoders supporting skip or do they just do fast forward in which case this problem wont occur on them?

Anyone else have this problem with Prime?

Yep. Also on Choice and Maori, but it seems to vary over time which is worse. Sometimes the issue disappears altogether for months. It seemed to get better for me after an os rebuild but that might be my imagination!

The I-Frame explanation is the right one I think.

I'm (vainly) hoping the frequency reshuffle might help free up some space so they don't have to squeeze so much into one mux.

I'm assuming you mean advert skip?

Freeview certified decoders aren't allowed to implement Ad Skip.

The issue is usually down to the way channels do or don't fade in/out from the program to the adverts. If there isn't anything to detect then it won't map it as an advert.

At the end of the day it is down to the implementation in your media centre rather than something to do with the channel.

I'm pretty sure the OP is talking the ability to jump forward in 30 second increments. "Skipping" forwards.

Not sure what the technical term is - can you clarify?

Yeah turb is correct. I was referring to the skip function buttons. Media center has a button to skip forwards 29 seconds and one to skip back 7, which makes moving through commercials much easier than fast forwarding. Glad to hear it's not just me having the issue, however I still wonder if it's a signal quality issue, as I assume the same stream is transmitted nationwide and Regs isn't seeing the issue in Akl. I'm using Fitzherbert.
