Hello

I'm happily using Freeview via DVB-T on my HTPC, but seeing I had a spare DVB-S card and a Sky dish installed in my house I thought I'd have a go at getting Freeview DVB-S as a backup source and maybe EPG source.

I added the card in TVH, added Optus D1 as a source with the following (built-in) settings, did a channel scan...

...and got these channels as a result.

These are apparently all on 12456H. 12483H fails to tune entirely.

I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to DVB-S and I am utterly confused. Where are these channels coming from? Are they on D1? If so, where's Freeview? Are they on D2? If so, why are they showing up on D1's settings, and how can I get D1? Surely this Sky dish can't be set up to point only at D2?

No big deal if I'm out of luck here, this is only out of curiosity. And hey, at least I've got a whole bunch of strange foreign religious channels to watch now...

Hi, yes, your dish is pointing at Optus D2. Some of the transponders in use have the same frequencies on both satellites. Look at Lyngsat.com and see what other foreign channels you can get off D2, there are quite a few there.

don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....

Thanks guys, certainly seems that way. Is it possible that it's pointed at both D1 and D2? I can post a photo of the dish if it helps.

Only way you can get both is two LNBs on one arm. D1 is 160E and D2 is152E. If you only have one LNB you need to realign the dish.
