I am after some opinions/options please. :)
We have had Freeview working fine from the Auckland Waitarua mast for about 3 years now. For the last 2-3 months the signal quality has dropped off a few percent (using the DishTV meter it shows around 50-65%). Strength is still solid sitting around 80-90%.
So I am getting 'no signal' or chopping/pixelation of the stream. Seems to be worse with Choice/Prime/Sonnet. And seems to be worse during the daytime for some strange reason?!? Although that could be just me being subjective - although the stuff we record through the night doesn't seem as badly impacted.
The aerial on the roof is already a large one - with lots of fins/elements/whatever they are called. And we have a masthead amplifier installed. All was installed (in a new build, so cabling/joints/etc should be all good) by a professional/qualified dude.
According to the Freeview coverage map we shouldn't have signal, so we are really batting against the odds in any case - but I really wanted HD rather than the satellite SD stream :) and like I said, it has been working fine for the past 3 years.
So I am thinking that maybe some trees have just grown to the point where they are now blocking more than enough of the signal to knock it out and make it sort of unusable.
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas? Would putting the aerial on a tall mast on the roof buy me another 3 years or so? Any other recommendations/ideas?
Cheers
Troy
