Hi all the Vu users out there.

I have a issue which I can't seem to resolve with my limited knowledge
I cannot record Prime and any other channel at the same time., signal strength for al channels is 77%, all other channels are ok it's just with Prime
I have Freeview's prime TP . but all I get is a either a failed to record or a pixelated screen. this was on a timer recording
last night I did record successfully Prime and TV3 white at home but timer did do it, when I went out
I do notice the time span when setting up a auto timer is way longer than the program actually is. eg the program is from 9.30-10.30 but timer says 9.30 - 00.30 for example ,
any help would very appreciated

this only seems to happen at night, during the day it works fine

It sounds like the LNB on your dish is starting to fail. The same thing happened to me a couple of years back. If it has an Oval Dome, was originally installed by Sky, and the brand is 'Sharp', then this will almost certainly be the cause. Many thousands of these LNBs have failed around the country.

Secondly, regarding the issue of extra recording time before and after scheduled programmes: This is configurable via the Setup menu. I have mine set to 2 mins before and 10 mins after which works well. I haven't missed any part of a programme for more than a year now.

Hi grant,

Thanks for the reply, I have the recording settings for 2 mins prior and 7 after,
Seems strange that the issue happens on both mine and my parents duo.
they have the single LNB and I have the oval one and only happens with prime ( both parents and mine)

Check that you have Prime tuned in as follows: 12,707MHz / Symbol 22,500 / FEC 3/4

If it's on a different transponder I don't know what the quality will be like, but this one I can vouch for. This particular channel is on the 'SkyNZ' transponder, but it's Free-to-Air so you should be able to receive it, even without a Sky subscription.

Most likely because Prime is on a different TP. You only have two tuners, with the bulk of the Freeview channels on 2 transponders, but Prime is on a separate one. So with overlapping recordings you may be hitting conflicts when trying to record or watch multiple channels at a time. Bring back the before and after recording times to zero and see if that helps - if it does, most likely just a conflict trying to record too many things. Reset your before and after times, then shift some of the recording to the +1 channels instead to remove the overlap.

it is true that is seemed to happened after prime went to Sky's TP,
but just tried recording prime and TV4 while I had tv3 one, and it should have done that ok came back to check, tv4 was fine and nothing on the prime program, i just did a normal recording from the EPG green button then ok
also just did the lasted update today as well,

3 & 4 are on the same transponder, so that won't cause a problem.

Try TV1, TV3 and Prime all at the same time as they are each on different transponders.

if I try all 3 on the different transponder, it creates a conflict and wont accpet have 3. funny but can watch and record prime ok, with no other recording happening

There are several versions of Prime across different transponders - I wonder if you are recording one version, and watching another, which ties up both tuners?

Depending on what image you are running, there may be an indicator on screen to show which tuner you are using - A/B in different colours depending on which tuners are in use.

Thanks Running man, I have checked the freq to make sure it was the Freeview one. I did wonder about that myself.

i have now changed my Tuner B setting to loop through to Tuner A. it was on equals to,
this seems to work so far but am testing by doing some more recordings

How is the lnb cabled to the tuners?

From the LNB to a 3 in 4 out splitter then to Tuner A, which worked fine before, but wonder if when doing a cpl of fresh reflashes i chnaged the tuner config to equal ti instead of loop through

If you have cables separately to each tuner set it to a=b. If only one tuner has a physical connection then set to loop through.
