so was watching the women's tennis last night, some semi-final between the grunting russian gal and the gal who won in auckland this year.

was at match point and nek minnit tennis was gone and some pommy soccer game was starting up !

wtf sommet, this is the 21st century, surely you have the tech to show the end of the match and the start of the soccer ?

will sommet also chop the final if it over-runs its time slot ?

Yeah same thing happened when the AFL season was going. Regularly the sunday night match would finish after 9pm when the Moto3 race was scheduled to start. Usually they would finish the AFL game, show a few ads and then cut right into the race after it had been going for 10-30 minutes. Quite annoying to say the least! Although I guess if you get something for free it is hard to complain!

Its way worse than SD. Most content looks like 360p fed into encoders so it ends up being D1-CIF at best. European Football image quality is so absolutely vulgar it shouldn't even be allowed to be broadcast in my opinion - it is that bad.

P.S. And after Sky finish with it its even worse.

has any one noticed that sommett are playing the england v croatia soccer game live on saturday 11/10/14,the only trouble with that is they are playing san marino at wembley on friday 10/10/14 nz time.

part of their problem (at least for the soccerfootball) is they source their material from Setanta Sports Australia. Their feed quality is just as dire as Sommet's is. Garbage in, garbage out.

But yes, it's correct that it looks way worse than Sky Sport SD.

Do Sky do a straight rebroadcast? I don't think that Sommet has a Sky version on D1 from memory

Sky do a resample to turn it into a Picasso mosaic.

P.S. Maybe NZ Racing Board could sell their 1970s TV technology to Sommett Sports on upgrading Trackside to HD.
