Hi Everyone

We just bought a new S7070r freeview and we have our LNBs and Dish preset. We live in a flat and because of this, I think there are two LNB installed as shown in the last photo. But unfortunately, I am not able to have New Zealand channel. I tried a lot and tested different configurations, but I was not able to have NZ channels.
I tried both the Blind and Satellite scan, but I could get NZ channels. I appreciate that if anyone could help me with this. I have provided some photos from the LNB and settings, maybe someone can help me to figure out the problem.

By the way, there is a flat in front of our Dish, but I think it does not block the line of sight of our dish because we are able to get some channels from different satellites ( but not NZ channels). I can have some channels by setting the positioner with "DiSEqC1.2", but if I set it to "none", I can not get those channels.

ANY help is highly appreciated.

Many thanks
Mohsen

That LNB is really old and probably mostly stuffed by now. I would look at replacing it.

Are you getting anything at all from it?

Assuming the dish hasn't moved and the lnb still works the use the following

Lo and high 10750
22k off
Diseqc off
Power on

Then do a blind scan. That should get you the Freeview channels. If it doesn't then list what channels you do get because the dish has been moved.

Hi Richard/runningMag

I appreciate your consideration.

Yes, with my current settings, I can get Fashion tv and some other channels.

I did  what you suggested with blind scan

22kh->on
power->on
The rest->none

For the question:"network search"->yes

I got the following frequencies :
s.no     Freq                   Symbol rate      Pol      Signal
1         12850MHz            22500             H          73%
2          12607                  22499            H          72%
..
...

In the next page, I got
JamJam
EWTN*
BVN
MRT 1
MRT2
CNC WORLD
CNC CHINESE
OMAN TV
Fashion ONE
and some other channels but not NZ channels. I can watch those channels, thus, LNB is working.
///////////////////////////////////////////////

With these settings:
power->on
The rest->none or off

I got this:

1       12393       22500      H        73%
..
..
13      12406       24449     v         72%

and in the next page

SKY D3 LNB test
Optus test

and No video, no audio, and no channels

Many thanks
Mohsen

Good Morning

You are picking up the D3 Test page which means that your dish is not pointing at Optus D1 or the switch (22khz) has switched it onto the other side of the LNB,

Please try a Factory Default on the unit and then an auto scan which should scan in the required frequencies

Dear Dish TV support member

Good morning

I reset the Freeview several times with factory settings, and the Freeview did the default auto scan for me ( I picked Wellingon as the city that I live), but I was not able to get any NZ channels. Maybe the dish does not point at Optus D1 and I have to adjust the direction, but I am not sure, because I asked this question from some people and they told me that for NZ channels , there is no need that your dish pointing at specific direction. maybe they are wrong.

Cheers
Mohsen

You are picking up Optus d2 with 22k on and Optus c1/d3 with 22 k off. You should get d1 (Freeview) with it off and c1 d3 with it on.

Your dish has been physically moved and needs to be re aimed. It needs to be moved about an inch to the right as you stand behind it. This does need to be fairly precise through so it may pay to get someone in to do it if you are not confident

That is one of the failure modes of the lab to ignore the switch.

Replace before thinking of reaiming.

Hi Richmas

Could you explain more please?. I did not get the first sentence because I am not a technical person.

"That is one of the failure modes of the **lab** to ignore the **switch**."

Autocorrect failure. L n b. They stop switching based on the signals and just stick to one polarity or feed as it's probably full of water and gunk on the circuit board. A dish is unlikely to move to an exact position of another satellite. It's unlikely that someone would install it on the wrong satellite. Lnb is cheap to replace and if you move the dish and can't get it back on target a tech visit is way more.

The 22k switch must be working, because it is switching between C1/D3 at 156 degrees with 22k off (getting the D3 test signal) and D2 at 152 degrees with 22k on(getting CNC, BVN etc).

Those LNBs have 2 throats that will look at orbital positions 4 degrees apart (on the right dish). Normally with Sky this is set to D1 at 160 degrees with the 22k off, and D1/D3 at 156 degrees with 22k on. In this case, each throat is picking up the orbital position 4 degrees further over than it should (you cannot receive D2 with these LNBs if the primary throat is aimed at D1).

The reason this would happen is a previous tenant or user has moved the dish by 4 degrees to pick up C1/D3 and D2.

To re-aim the primary throat from C1/D3 to D1 (where Freeview is), standing behind the dish, the end of the arm where the LNB is will need to move about an inch to the right, and probably up a few mm as well, then fine tune the position for maximum signal.

You guys are very experts, Awesome, I could not understand most of it, but I got the whole idea, reaiming.

Thanks a million and I appreciate that.
