My sister recently dumped her old analogue tv and digital converter box and bought a digital tv for the family room, it does not pickup channels off this wall point, it used to. The lounge tv also has an old analogue tv with Sky box.
Her son inlaw got it all working, briefly, by going into the roof space and, his words, using duct tape to patch things. But again only the lounge telly now works.

My sister would like terestial only in the family room on the new tv and continue using Sky in the lounge, plus she wants the old large analogue aerial removed from the roof.

Can anyone recommend a good reasonablely priced antenna guy in Cambridge? Oh also she is on a pension!

Cheers

Hi FineWine

You will need to rewire the cable from the family room wall outlet through to the new UHF aerial, the old analogue aerial is probably a VHF mast and probably won't work with Freeview unless it picked up extra channels in the analogue days.
If you no longer require Terrestrial in the lounge then you can simple remove  the feed from the lounge outlet into the cabling for the family room and connect those who together so that the Family room has Freeview and the lounge can only have SKY.

This is my observation , and may differ to others on the forum

Cheers

Thanks - as I do not know what the wiring situation is in the roof or on the roof or really what my sister ultimately wants, the Antenna guy would have to have an in-depth conversation with my sister.

So still waiting on a recommendation for someone in the Cambridge area.

Cheers

Thanks but I have already looked there prior to OP.

Isn't it one of the main purposes of this forum to provide word-of-mouth advice/recommendations about products and services that members have received and that is all I am asking before I or my sister roll the dice and choose a company from the Yellow Pages.

Cheers

I have heard Rainbow Connections is pretty good http://www.rainbowconnections.co.nz/

I have always used Hamilton based 'Hus" from New Tech Installations Ph 0800GETHUS (0800438487). He may cover Cambridge?  Very professional & friendly service.  Doesn't muck around...just gets the job done.  It was a couple of years ago the last time however, so can't guarantee he is still in the trade.  Has installed a couple of aerial set ups for me now, and on the last one solved a Freeview issue I had at that time.   Wouldn't hesitate to use again.

Hope that helps
